Hey yall! This is my 3 year old monstera, named Moni. I noticed recently her edges are turning a bit yellow, one with a little crispy browning. It’s only two leaves though as the others appear fine.
I usually water once a week but am not as consistent in the summer. When i checked yesterday, her soil was moist still, so I didn’t water
Could this issue be from overwatering? Would appreciate the feedback! 🌱
Our monstera is currently making aerial roots like CRAZY. She hasn’t been making these on this level, it seems a bit much.
Is there a reason for her to create an amount like this? We are planning on getting her a 3D printed pole with actual moss inside, could this make her happier?
Been reading quite a lot on monsteras lately but still finding it confusing sometimes!
Bought her about 2 months ago and this is her current state.
Pics 3 is where she’s currently in the room. Moved her for the first time yesterday as we bought a drinks cabinet that you can see in the top left corner.
We were thinking of having her right under the window but all the various comments about avoiding direct sunlight made us think she’d be too exposed.
Would you say she looks healthy?
The latest leaf this plant has put out stunned us, it’s over 2 feet long! The plant is also moving itself around preparing for another leaf to come out on the right side, which I think is so cool!
These plants are fed fish waste water high in nitrates, and are on a south facing patio with no direct light, 📍 South Florida!
I have had this monstera cutting for maybe a month, it was given to me in water with a couple of roots. It has grown a ton of new roots and even has a new leaf opening! But one of its original 2 leaves is getting a spot that is becoming see-through.
It gets some direct light rays in the afternoon because the window next to it is open, and this is the leaf closest to the window, but this doesn't look like a burn. I've never run into this before and I've propped quite a few things in water. Any help is appreciated, I was going to pot it up but now I'm worried about it. And those tiny brown spots are not pests, they are cat-nibbles 😭
Picture with a light behind it, picture with my hand behind it, picture of the roots (the brown ones are what used to be aerial roots, they are nice and firm not rotted in any way).
When I got this monstera it was reasonably healthy, but it has been drooping and my cat has been pulling off leaves. I added a moss poll to help with the drooping and put it up where my cat hopefully won't be interested in it but I would love any other tips because it seems like there are other health issues besides being messed with by a cat.
I'm watering it when the soil feels dry one inch down
I saw this monstera today in a local supermarket the pattern is on every leaf any ideas ?
I want to avoid browning on new varigated leaves, has anyone used silica with success? Is there any risk of it harming the plant or making things worse?
I also read that it makes cells stronger and less inviting for thrips and other plant eating insects.
Please share your routine 😁 ie: do you use silica every time you water?
Got this Thai con back in April so far it’s grown 2 new leaves and a new baby on the way. Currently the baby leaf is about to start unraveling now. Lots of air roots(if that’s what they are called) started to grow as well. What are we thinking does the plant look healthy to you guys? I still haven’t tied it up yet what should I use? Any recommendations for anything I need to do for this plant
I have no clue what type it is google keeps thinking its a succulent 😂 it has really thin leaves. It has a few new leaves opening so i think its savable it rerooted itself in the pot next to the original start so i think thats why its still okay. I repotted it into a pot slightly bigger so it will probably need to be repotted sooner. (Dont mind my hydrangea the outside heat fried it😒)
This stalk randomly appeared and grew rapidly. It’s really taking its sweet time opening its leaf tho… is this an evolution of my monstera or did something else sneak into my soil??
I've been keeping them in leca for about 7 months, the roots were growing like crazy but then the leaves started curling and yellowing out of the blue.
I thought it might be some kind of over watering due to the roots always escaping the pot into the water reservoir, so I changed to this mix with perlite, bark, vermiculite and a bit of vermicompost.
They've been sitting like this for about a month already, facing the window, I've been watering them when the top 2/3 of soil is completely dry.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong 😞
What could be the problem?
Hi! I got my first and only monstera last year in august, and she was a tiny baby with no fenestrations. She doubled in height, so i decided to repot about two months ago without thinking. After I did the job, I realised there have been 5 plants in one pot all along, so a few days ago I separated them and repotted AGAIN because there was no way I could provide stability for all the main plants in only one pot. I am afraid that I did her dirty because I had to slowly detangle all her roots... After I was done I wattered them thoroughly, I let all water drain, but the soil is still kind of damp even if it's been around 4-5 days. I want to know if there is anything I can do for her and if i shouldn't get my hopes up...
There are 3 pots now, one of them has two plants and one of them I took outside for some extra light(one is a tiny baby that I put in water). Would this stress her more? Help, I want them to survive and thrive.
So my monstera plant got root rot, so I cleaned out all the dead leaves and the rotten roots. And replanted it in soil. Now I'm wondering if I should have put it in water instead.
Should I place it in water instead?
I recently repotted with some good chunky soil from soil ninja and the plant as a whole is absolutely thriving. 4 new leaves in the last month, new fenestrations all over the place, but this has also happened on one of the older leaves.
