The most beautiful leaf I have ever seen in my life.

Been wanting an albo for months and finally found a rooted cutting for sale for a good price! I gasped when I unboxed it I still can’t believe it. I’m so excited to watch it grow, it already has a new growth point. I usually hate moss poles but I am putting this on one. Ignore the bathtub it’s getting its pest treatment before going in with the collection lol.

My first complex hybrids!

All from Hersheys Houseplants! The older ones are so gorgeous, and the seedlings are already putting out new leaves after a week! Also love that the 2 older ones are sisters. Seedlings are currently being kept in ziplock bag jail lol.

Bulbasaur :D

Can’t believe how cheap these have gotten. I paid a little bit more to get one with high variegation and even then it was less than $100!. I’ve never bought a monstera this small before I’m so excited that I’ll be able to see it at every stage of life

What are these spots on my anthuriums ???

They start off as small, thin holes and then slowly grow and become yellow. Part of the last leaf has become paper thin and dry on the top left. Please help! It’s affecting my favorite anthuriums

First leaf with me♥️

I psyched myself out of getting a queen for so long, but I’ve honestly been treating it like my other anthurium and she’s putting out such a beautiful leaf! Already has another getting ready to come in too. Her last leaf is the one that she came with (her soil was wayyyy too dense)

Has anyone tried arber products on their begonias?

I’m looking for a more gentile fungicide/insecticide that can be used to prevent fungal infections and pests on my entire collection, but especially my begonias. I had botrytis (I think) on one begonia, and unfortunately caught it too late and lost it. I’ve been so terrified of harming their delicate leaves to try any sprays on them. I love the begonia that I have right now so much and am terrified it will harm them, but I also don’t want to lose them to infections!

Thank you!

Do these spots look suspicious?

I recently (over a month ago) lost a begonia to what I believe was a fungal infection. Since I have increased the air flow and not had any problems. But everytime I see a suspicious mark on a leaf I freak out lmao. This is my NOID velvet anthurium. Do these spots look like they could be anything bacterial or fungal? There’s no yellowing, just thin parts of the leaves that are almost see through.

Thanks for the help!

Red cuprea leaf growing in green?

Bought this plant for $20 at my local plant shop. It has put out 2 new leaves in my care, the second of which gave me a little stripe of pink variegation. I remember specifically that these leaves grow in maroon bc of the red backs but this one is… green? Am I crazy or is this leaf about to be heavily variegated? But even on the variegated stripe the back is a hot pink, so maybe the coloring has just not come in yet?

Pest control help in Tennessee

Hello,

Me and my partner recently moved into a new location, and since day one have had an ant infestation that has progressively gotten worse. The landlord provided pest treatment prior to us moving in, but has stated that pest control is our responsibility and must be paid for by us when a complaint was made. On the lease, it also says that tenant is responsible for keeping the premises free of all rodents and pests. However, it appears that the ants are able to get in from a crack under the back door frame. We have also seen a slug squeeze in through here. I’m not sure if it’s from outside directly or through the wall. They used to congregate by that door. But they have since gotten all through out the place. We have cats, as we listed and paid for on the lease, that can hardly eat their food before ants are literally covering it. I have to come home and wash everything and spray raid everywhere which is toxic to our pets. Would the landlord be responsible for infestations not caused by tenant? It also appears to me that the infestation is due to improper fitting of the door frame (the place has been built within the last year or so), would that make them liable? Don’t they legally have to keep the place livable and sanitary? and We are clean people, we do dishes and wipe down counters daily. Food is not left out other than what the cats need to eat and survive.

Thank you for your help

Begonia kingiana suddenly declining?

I’ve had this begonia for a few months, and it was the first begonia I got that grew my love for them. It has been thriving and spitting out dozens of baby leaves. Last night when I checked on it, I noticed several of the leaves have developed brown spots around the petiole, and the stems were mushy. I thought it was root rot, but the rhizome looks/feels healthy, and it had a great root system. I repotted into a better draining mix just in case, but with begonias it’s impossible to repot without root loss, since their roots are so small and delicate. Its leaves are also spotting as you can see in the picture. Other care info is it sits under a barrina t5 with little to no natural light, it gets watered about once per week (when the pot feels light) and I typically fertilize with diluted jacks 20-20-20, super thrive, and calmag (I have a variety of plants so they all get fed this). I dont use traditional potting soil so their mediums tend to be nutritionally lacking, which is why I fertilize often. Could it be overfertilizing? Fungal/ bacterial issues?

Will my spiritus sancti continue pushing out this leaf after months of not growing?

My spiritus sancti went through some repotting shock after I first got it, and developed quite a bit of root rot. For a while I could not get it to hold on to roots aside from the 3 ugly ones it had. I’ve finally gotten it in a good setup that it likes, and it’s pushing out a ton of healthy roots! It started pushing out this leaf right before it declined, do you think it will continue growing that leaf? It put out the latest leaf while it was struggling, but stopped midway with this one

Anyone know what this baby is?

Very young plant so it might be a little to tell. It was labeled a black velvet, but doesn’t seem to resemble a lot of the black velvets I see online. The seller told me it was a common plant. It has a pretty pink outline and the most sparkly veining I’ve ever seen, it looks like the leaves are growing in darker too. I’m new to anthuriums so the names and all the hybrids are a little confusing to me. Just curious if anyone has one that looks similar. I’ll be happy with whatever, I’m eager to see what it will look like when it’s matured!

Hoyas dropping baby leaves?

A few of my Hoyas have started to drop their baby leaves before they grow in. They are otherwise growing fine? Black margin and undulata put out fat new leaves but dropped some babies. Kerri was putting out 2 new leaves and dropped both when they were tiny, but has 4 growth points. Is there a nutrient deficiency? They get jacks 20-20-20 every watering and live in a south window. The leaves will either drop themselves or instantly fall if they are barely touched. Please help! Thank you

How long does it take for a ferox leaf to fully grow in

I think she’s been settling in to my home, there’s no crunchy bits on the newest leaf. But it’s been taking FOREVER to grow in. Is it bc it’s still adjusting/ growing roots (I’ve had it for almost a month). It is putting out the tiniest new leaf as well. My other begonias are growing so fast, so I’m worried about.

Is this an okay potting mix?

Scored this anthurium doc bloc Michelle at Home Depot for $60. Not new to plants but new to anthuriums. I’m used to very chunky mixes that don’t hold water for my other aroids so potting anthuriums feels like a crime. I’ve never bought this tropical bag before but thought I’d try it since it’s more moisture retentive. It’s about equal parts of the tropical mix + perlite with maybe a third of the bark mix? It’s slow draining, and the pot is HEAVY. But when I squeeze the soil it doesn’t seem to hold excess moisture (I.e. dripping). Also, is it fine if the stem is partially under the soil? It was flopping over when I bought it so I up potted it and planted a little deeper for stability.

…should I be letting them dry out?

Somehow gave this plant root rot despite it being in half orchid mix and half coco chips. Chunky as chunky could get. I water once a week. I noticed it is putting out some thicker healthier looking white roots amidst the dead ones. Do you think I should just leave it be and let it adjust? Go down to every 2 weeks maybe??
