From Shipping Stress to a New Leaf in Just 4 Weeks! 🌿😍

A month ago, I was pretty worried because the Monstera Albo I ordered online spent four days in a shipping box. It arrived with a few brown leaves, droopy foliage, and one leaf that was only halfway unfurled.
Fast forward four weeks, and that half-open leaf has fully unfurled into a beautiful half-moon variegation, and now there’s already a new leaf on the way! 😍 Safe to say it’s finally feeling at home.

Indirect sunlight

I feel like my albo would love direct sunlight but I can’t provide any unfortunately- it’s always lurking around the corner right at the window. I would like it to size up but it’s slow- it has fenestrations on both sides of the leaves for a while now (except for winter) but isn’t really getting much bigger with length - two plants on a pole in the picture. I’m just wondering if it’s time for chop&prop again

Monstera Albo White Variegation

Meet Morty, my Monstera Albo (propagated by my cousin 🌱)

I got him on March 2026 & noticed that he got very little variegation. What I know is variegation depends on the stem’s genetics, however I was wondering about the existing leaves.

- Is there any chance that the current green-dominant leaves produce more white patches as they mature?

- Will there be any chance that future new leaves will produce more white variegation?

This is my first experience on Monstera Albo, so any insights will be appreciated! 😊

What is wrong with my monstera albo? Please read full details.

I’ve had this Monstera albo since August 2025 and it’s been healthy until recently.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed new brown lesions with yellow halos appearing on multiple leaves. I opted to observe at first as the plant area is regularly maintained with systemic and I have not introduced a new plant to the collection. Existing spots are also enlarging, and it seems like additional existing leaves are developing new spots over time.

Initially I thought it was thrips because I’ve dealt with thrips before and the damage looked suspicious. However:

•	I’ve inspected the plant multiple times with a flashlight.

•	Checked the tops, undersides, petioles, and stem.

•	I cannot find a single adult thrip, larva, or black frass.

•	The Monstera growing right beside it just unfurled a completely healthy new leaf with no damage.

•	No other nearby plants are showing similar symptoms. In fact the other 2 other monsteras beside it are not exhibiting anything at all.

•	I treated my collection with systemic about a month ago as part of routine prevention.

• I water my plants once a week and the foliage doesn't get wet. The roots and stem look healthy.

The lesions are mostly round brown spots with distinct yellow halos. They are flat (not raised), and rubbing the underside does not produce orange/rust-colored powder.

I’m trying to determine whether this looks more like:

•	Thrips with an extremely low population,

•	Rust fungus,

•	Another fungal/bacterial leaf spot,

•	Or something else entirely.

I’d really appreciate any thoughts from people who’ve seen this before, as I’d like to identify the cause before deciding on treatment. My plants are regularly maintained and I follow a strict I isolation process when bringing in a new plant (which I have not in that area for a while).

Please be kind, my first time posting here.

Thank you!

Help! Should I chop again?

A while back, I had to chop this beauty because she was putting out all white leaves. The auxiliary bud seemed to be in a good spot; there was plenty of green and white. The first leaf she put out after the chop was still mostly white. Since then, the leaves have more green than the first leaf, but still too much white for me to be comfortable. Should I chop her again or wait and see if she will put out more green? The green on the leaves now seems muted compared to the deep green before she went white, and the stem is white with very little green. I love her so much, and she is so beautiful as she is, but I'm afraid she won't survive with this much white. Any and all help is appreciated!!!

3 Active growth points?

Hi!
My albo has always been putting out almost only white leaves, so during a period of 2 years, i've chopped it maybe 10 times to promote more green.

After my most recent cut a few weeks back, 3 growth points were activated. I was sure it was gonna pick only one of the growth points to put out leaves, but now 2 of the growth points has put out 2 leaves each (with 3rd on the way) and one growth point has put out one leave with a second on they way.
->This means i've so far gotten 5 leaves in the same amount of time i would have gotten 1-2 leaves.

Can I be so lucky that this continues? I thought it wasn't possible to have more than one growth point, has anyone had the same happen to them and how did it end up?
I feel like maybe i chopped it so many times so the plant is tryna do anything it can to get to keep some leaves and not have them cut off all the time lol.

Need help figuring out why my plants keep sacrificing their oldest leaves after new growth (mostly Monsteras)

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to get some insight because I’m running out of ideas.

I only started this hobby about four months ago after seeing my wife get back into plants following a major health issue. We started rebuilding her collection, and somehow it has grown into well over 100 plants. Overall, everything is growing well, but there’s one issue that keeps happening.

Almost every time one of my plants puts out a new leaf, the oldest bottom leaf starts yellowing shortly afterward. Sometimes it begins yellowing even before the new leaf has completely unfurled.

This happens mostly with my Monsteras (Albo, Thai Constellation, Deliciosa, Aurea, etc.), with the exception of my largest and most mature Monstera, which seems unaffected. What’s confusing, though, is that I’ve also seen the same behavior on other genera, so it doesn’t appear to be exclusive to Monsteras.

To make things even more puzzling, I have four different plant areas throughout the house, each with different environmental conditions, and I see the same pattern in all of them.

Here’s my setup:
- Over 100 tropical plants (mostly Monstera, Philodendron, Scindapsus, and Hoya)
- Barrina lighting: TR40 overhead, T10 positioned in front and T1S used to fill shadows
- My grow lights run from sunrise to sunset every day.
- The main area where I see this behavior is in front of an east-facing window. The plants are about 12 feet from the window, so they aren’t sitting directly on the windowsill, but they definitely receive natural morning sunlight in addition to the grow lights.
- I only water when the substrate is dry (or nearly dry, depending on the plant) and the pot feels noticeably light.
- Most plants are in clear nursery pots, so I regularly inspect the roots. They continue to grow and appear healthy with no signs of rot.
- I fertilize with Growth Technology Foliage Focus almost every watering and supplement with GT Silica.
- I inspect my plants regularly, including with a magnifying glass, and I haven’t found any visible pests on the plants experiencing this issue. I did recently discover a small pest issue on a newly purchased big-box store plant in one isolated area. Fortunately, I caught it very early before it spread to any neighboring plants, treated the area immediately, and haven’t seen any further signs of pests.

The plants themselves don’t seem stressed. They’re
actively growing, producing larger leaves, and the new foliage generally looks healthy. It’s just that they almost always seem to trade one old leaf for one new leaf.

Is this actually normal once plants reach a certain stage, or does it sound like there’s something in my care or environment that I’m consistently overlooking? I don’t necessarily mind losing an occasional older leaf, but it seems to be happening often enough that I feel like I should be able to improve something.

I’d really appreciate any thoughts or experiences from growers who have run into the same thing.

Thanks in advance!

To pot or not to pot, that is the question

She is variegated and is already really busy pushing out a new leaf 🥰 I thought rather wait longer than shorter (esp. for the tiny spots on the aerial root, but they don’t seem to come through). However, a friend pointed out it might be good to transition now asap to give better support for the leaf growth. Side roots on the upper part seem fine now, I’m still hesitant tho.
What do y’all think?

Monstera Albo help

Hi Monstera Albo friends,

Sorry if this has been posted about and I just am too panicked to find it. My precious albo has been deteriorating and I could use some help / words of comfort haha Both of my monstera albos have been turning brown and I'm pretty devastated.

  1. I re-potted them November 2025.
  2. First brown spot popped up March 25 before the move - I think too much sunlight was the culprit because the sun moved. I kept the humidifier on it and no other brown spots appeared.
  3. I moved April 1, 2026 from dry Colorado to humid Seattle.
  4. Saw the first brown spots appear again June 9th. The plant was upstairs in a bathroom where it had been last summer and thrived. I think the sun was too direct this time somehow. I moved the plant to indirect light but still saw brown spots pop up.
  5. Here's where I think I royally messed up: I checked the soil for rot, just in case. I added some monstera fertilizer (which I have now read can make the brown spots worse), and I put a humidifier too close to the plant so water droplets formed on the leaves (and I see the leaves becoming translucent on those droplet areas and some weird crystal forming). So now almost all of the leaves are turning brown.

This is my favorite plant, and I know things come and go but I would love to save this little lady.

Do I try adding some silica? A heating pad? Or just let it be and hope it stabilizes on its own?

The photos are in chronological order, June 9, June 24, June 27, June 29 and June 29

Thank you!!

are either of these a large form Monstera albo?

Can anyone tell me if either of these plants looks like a large form Albo? The first three photos are of one plant, and the last two photos are of a different plant. Both sellers told me they were large forms, but I’m a little skeptical and wanted to get some opinions from people who have more experience identifying them. Thanks!

Flowers

I work in a greenhouse and have about 20 albos that I grow and propagate. I usually chop and prop so I have small ones for people in the spring. For whatever reason I didn't get around to chopping many and now I am so glad I didn't. I was excited when I saw one albo flowering but now I have 5 plants with flowers. Im really going to try to pollinate them and fingers crossed we get to try a fruit in about a year

How to save this monstera?

I used to keep it next to a south facing window and she was growing pretty fast but all the leaves turned brown. I thought it was sunburn so I cut the fully brown leaves and moved it away from the window. It stopped growing and now the brown is back. Maybe overwatering? 😭 It’s my favourite plant I dont want to lose it
