Philo Propagation Help

Hello, All! I am desperately seeking advice on several philodendron stalks that I am attempting to propagate. My ultimate goal is to replant them with the main plant to make it fuller.

First and foremost, the mother plant from which these trimmings came is the love of my freaking life. Such an easygoing, lovely plant. It routinely grows to the ceiling, and I trimmed it once before and placed the cuttings in dirt, as I read that the roots grow stronger in dirt than they do in water. Well, the trimmings held on for about two months, and then the leaves completely died. When I pulled the stalk out of the dirt, I found that it hadn’t grown a single root.

Six months later, I’m back to the drawing board, as the plant was once again about to touch the ceiling. So, I cut off three large stems and placed them in water. I’ve been switching it out every 7 to 10 days or so, and I’m noticing today that I have one little root that has finally emerged, but the other stalks don’t look that great. I am very worried about them dying. What would you recommend that I do to salvage them?

help please!

for every 5-10 leaves she grows, she’ll lose one or two. they’re always around the bottom, but they’ll just turn yellow and fall off.

is this normal? or am i doing something wrong? she’s otherwise happy and always popping out new leaves

Need some input

Hello! Should I repot this dude? And should I put a new pole on the side where the new branch/leaf is to "guide" it?

Help Please - Birkin Leaves Early Browning

I’ve had my birkin for around 2 years and understand that birkin leaves come out white then change to the green striping over time. However, for the past 6 months or so, all the leaves come out completely white and start browning before they can turn green. Some turn brown before they completely unfurl. I’ve just been cutting them off.

I’m thinking the problem was it was getting too much light. For context, it was in an east facing window but I live in a loft so that window is more like a literal wall. I’ve found it provides more bright light than a normal house window. I moved it a couple of weeks ago and now have it in more medium bright light. But I’m experiencing the same issue with the latest two leaves. Does anyone have any insight? Am I too impatient and/or totally missing the mark?

Also, I’m aware the pot is likely too big, but I don’t have any reason to believe this is caused by root rot because the other leaves are fine, etc. Happy to be corrected, though!

Wtf??

I got this White Princess about a month ago now. When I got her the tips of some of her leaves were broken off so I thought it was a prior issue. She just unfurled a new leaf and the tip and also broken off (or just not formed??) and I haven’t touched her at all so i know it’s not like I accidentally damaged it and didn’t realize What the heck is happening and how can I fix it??

Philodendron Glorious

This is our Philodendron Glorious that's been growing on a moss pole for a couple months now. It's sized up so quickly. When we first got it, it was just a small leafed vine sitting in a small cup in a corner getting whatever light it gets. When we began going really hard in on moss poles, this guy naturally had to get one as it's been a small favorite of ours. I'm so happy we did and every leaf is a joy. Not sure exactly how long it is but I'm guessing around 18"-24".

What kind of Philodendron is this?

Rescued from a giveaway at a nursery. Gardener didn’t know what it was. Closest I could find online is a panda?

Var. Micans progress

Wanted to show the incredible size increase on my micans since Dec 2025.

First pic is the oldest leaf vs. newest. I chopped the oldest leaf off for a better repot.

Last pic is not long after I put it on a support pole in February. She has drastically outgrown that lol.

I am currently trying to air layer her to be able to chop and pot. I’m too scared to lose my size if I chop and prop multiple nodes 😅

Philodendron obsessed

My first ever indoor plant I got was a pink princess back in March of this year. Since then I have added a painted lady and a prince of orange. I also have a bonus golden pothos 😂

When I bought the PPP she had 1 leaf just starting to emerge. She is now working on her 3rd one after that.

I feel like they're all doing well! Any tips or advice from these pictures are much appreciated since I'm so new to this!

Oh and you'll probably notice the cool mist humidifiers I have. And they're all in a west facing window.

Philo Florida Beauty leaf color change

Hi all, got this Florida Beauty a few months ago down in Homestead FL. The leaves were originally cream & green, matte with a blueish tint on them, which I really liked. (Bottom leaf in first pic.)

However the new leaves are bright yellow and green and very shiny. (Top leaf in first pic.)

I’m glad it’s healthy and happy, but I prefer the old coloring. Any advice?

More info: Currently in my backyard jungle getting dappled sun 4-6 hours a day. I originally tried a more sunny spot, but it burned. Lost a few stems :(

I had originally assumed the blue tint was some kind of water debris or pesticide mix, but it’s never come off, even when I used a soft cloth. Didn’t want to hurt the leaves so I just left it.

Which kind do I have.

Just got this beauty at a local garden center. So excited to get it to my office. Just curious what kind I got. The tag didn’t specify. Curious if it is vining or non-climbing. Thank you

How Do I Make This Guy Happy?

Context: I received this guy as a gift in December and hadn't had any other hanging/trailing plants. I hang it in a south-facing window, on a curtain rod. I totally forgot about this plant for basically the months of January and February, which led to the plant shriveling, and soil hardening. Since then, I water every 2-3 weeks, when soil is completely dry, but nothing else. New growth crops up constantly, but it's smaller and "sad," for lack of a better word. The original growth never seemed to recover from the early neglect, either.

Question: I'll be repotting soon (currently in an 8-inch planter, will move to 10), but im wondering if I should be trimming away a bunch of what's here beforehand and if there's anything I should be doing in terms of leaf/stem care, pruning, fertilizer, etc., to make the leaves more vibrant and hardy?

Philodendron Quadricolor Knight putting out a super red leaf

This isn't the first time that this plant has put out a fairly red leaf (the pink-tinted one in the first picture was red when it first emerged), but this newest leaf is still deeply impressive, particularly the areas with the bright red tones.

I adore this plant and am thankful every day that my purchase of an aurea knight turned out to actually be quadricolor and give me such stunning leaves!

Stake instead of moss pole?

I got this white wizard(?) unmarked clearance and I've never been able to keep the moss pole moist enough here in Phoenix for it to attach at all so I'm wondering if I just want to put it on a wood stake instead. It seems happy enough and it grows like crazy

Is this multiple plants in one, & if so, what to do?

I bought this Philo. Melanochrysum a couple weeks ago and just noticed it appears to be multiple plants in one pot… do you agree? If so, how many are there, and should they all be separated and staked?

To me it looks like there’s 3 or 4 but I don’t really know how these grow.

New lighting from Rousseau

I got a new track light and wow it is BRIGHT!!

I was debating between Soltech, Barrina and this one from Rousseau Plant Care. Rousseau had a better warranty and adjustable beam angles on top of being cheaper. I couldn’t be happier and I’m excited to see my growth increase!

Also, at this time I only have one light on the track but you can have up to 5! It is mounted 4 feet from the wall. I will be purchasing more lights in the future once I get my custom shelving built. Which of course I will also share in the future!

Negative ~ (but not really) for me and my space this track had to be mounted to studs as these lights are fairly heavy, to prevent falling and damage to my ceiling, or plants! The provided sheetrock anchors would not have been sufficient for my plaster and lathe ceiling. Due to the spacing of the pre drilled holes in the track, and the not to-code stud spacing in my ceiling .lol. I had to drill an extra hole in the track and purchase longer screws to safely secure it. This is not the companies fault, I just live in an old house.
