Billietiae and Spiritus Sancti!

Check out my big Billie and my newly acquired Spiritus Sancti. It’s surprising how the prices have fallen on the Spiritus!

Philodendron Glorious Chimera double leaf (?)

So this is a first for me. I was watering my P.Glorious and I found that the newest leaf looks like two leaves partially fused at the base! I'm fairly certain that the leaf didn't just split. Has this happened to anyone else before? Any way to encourage this leaf shape to grow consistently?

Is this a ring of fire?

Hello! This was sold to me as a very small cutting as a ring of fire- it has grown up quite a bit and I've noticed it doesn't have the iconic deep lobed/serrated leaf margin.

It does have the nice spotted coloring, the new growth comes in pink. Could it be something else?

Thanks!

How to air layering a Philo?

I’ve got a wonderful philodendron white princess. But she hasn’t gotten enough light the whole time. So she’s a little bold on the middle. So I thought about air layering and chopping her since that looks a little ridiculous 😂

Has any of you had any experience with air layering? She’s got a few eyes too. Would that be a good or bad spot for the moss? Anything I have to look out for?

Any advise appreciated :)
Thank you a lot in advance!

(Also look at the newest leaf, not fully hardened yet)

(Not my photo) how do people get their billietiae petioles to shaped and be compact like this? I see there’s some stakes involved but how does the petiole curve and the leaf faces forward perfectly? Is it a lighting thing? Is it stress training? HOW??

What is she and how can I make her less ugly?

I’m ashamed to say, but I hate everything about this plant. I’m new to the plant parent life and I can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong or just am not a fan of this particular type of plant.

She’s so leggy, leaves sticking out in different directions and just damn ugly. Also when I bought her the leaves were a lighter green and now have become darker. I’m not ready to give up on her, so please give advice/suggestions

Care:
North-east facing window supplemented with grow light
Chunky soil mix with perlite, coco coir and bark
Watering when the top few inches of soil are dry
Fertilising approximately once a month (it’s summer here)

P. Paraiso verde regained its variegation

Just wanted to share because I'd been under the impression the variegation was lost.

Got this as a pretty, mature clipping maybe 3 years ago? It lived in my childhood bedroom in my first Ikea greenhouse cabinet (a converted fabrikor) and established as a proper plant but it's colour gradually reverted to green.

~2 years ago I moved and placed it in my updated milsbo greenhouse with updated Barrina lights and fan. Got a CRAZY scale infestation (which was a Terribad time for my entire cabinet). It had grown top heavy and the bottom leaves were a lost cause - so I chopped heavily and propped. These (now 2) plants were neglected and I'd lost interest in them but I still kept it in my cabinet during my scale-infestation battle which I eventually won thanks to OnGuard Pro-Perm insect killer spray and keeping the humidity high consistently.

Start of this year I had the mother plant ( was literally a stick with roots) and a cutting with 2 fully green leaves no variegation on the stem.

Became more of a curiosity if the leaves would stay reverted green or regain the speckled variegation so I kept them at the bottom of my other milsbo greenhouse.

Mother plant (first pic) came back starting with green small leaves and is starting to put out variegation again.

Propagated part (second pic) is SO much bigger and putting out lots of variegation. Propagated via sphagnum moss.

Greenhouse lights are on ~10-12 hours a day and I water 1x weekly. I should keep better eye on humidity but I'm not consistent, will spray sometimes. Temp usually ~25-28 due to the lights in the enclosed space.

It's definitely a nice reminder that life can bounce back beautifully :) I'm glad I didn't throw them away!

I think I hit the philodendron jackpot.

A few weeks ago, I really wanted to buy this medium 8”philodendron for $60 but decided to hold off until I had the money. I came back once I had the money and was so sad to see it was gone already. Right before leaving, I took one last look around and found this absolute giant 12- inch philodendron just hiding in the corner for the SAME PRICE OF $60.

I HAD to bring her home. She’s ridiculously huge and heavy. I even smashed my toe walking with her home, but SO worth it!!! This was my dream plant - I’m in love. 🥹

Any ideas?

Any ideas on what this is on my philodendron? I’ve no clue

It’s definitely damage on the leaf as it doesn’t wipe off but it’s only on these two - the rest of the plant is healthy!

I can’t see any signs of pests so don’t think it’s that

Indoors, about a meter from a window & watered when top 2 inches are dry
