So in love with my LFL 🏠📚
Handmade by my dad, which makes it that much more special! He found the plans online, then surprised me by adding a little carport off to the side and putting my car in it 🥹
Well, y’all, my irrational fear actually came true.
The day’s already gone south, and it’s not even 5:00 AM.
I walked into my office this morning, went to turn on the light, and immediately knew something was wrong when I felt a cold squish.
At some point the chiller tube came unhooked, slid out of the tank, and proceeded to dump upwards of 20 gallons of ice cold axolotl water into my office.
TRIPLE CHECK your chiller tubes, folks. This has been a fear of mine since I got the tanks, but I genuinely didn’t think it would happen. Allow me be a cautionary tale for you.
Bonus picture of Fannie Mae, who is upset about being in the nursery tank but otherwise just fine.
Local Watering Holes?
Hey, y’all!
Title says it all—I’m looking for some local watering holes in the Columbia area to swim in. I know we’ve got all the rivers and Lake Murray, but I’d love some recommendations for a nice secluded swim.
Willing to travel within an hour of Columbia if there are good ones that aren’t in the area!
Can someone suggest me a memoir by a person who lived through a catastrophic event?
This might sound morbid, but recently, I’ve been absorbed in some heartbreaking memoirs written by people who have lived through truly awful events like the Holocaust, Ebola virus, and various civil wars. Could anyone steer me in the direction of my next tragic read?
So far, I’ve read:
“First they Killed My Father” — Loung Ung
“Night” — Elie Wiesel
“Into the Forest” — Rebecca Frankel
“The Hot Zone” — Richard Preston
“A Long Way Gone” — Ishmael Baeh
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
No better time than National Little Free Library Day to unveil the LFL I installed yesterday!
My dad built it for me, complete with a matching yellow Z in the carport :)
