What are you doing on this potentially rainy weekend?
Gathering ideas! I feel like lately I have had hardly anything to look forward to, but thats just me

Does anyone know someone who will tattoo the inside of my bottom lip that has experience.
Constant commercials trashing his opponent but has done nothing for the people of this state. Please vote against this embarrassment in the midterms.
Hi! Im a 29F, single, that’s lived in Columbia for 7 years now but I’ve had so much trouble finding good friends to do things with. I’m extroverted and every now and then get the urge to go out dancing, and all my friends live far away so I’d love to make some friends to go out with! I also like magic the gathering, working out, anime, broadway, etc. Any recommendations for how to find my people? Thanks!
My wife and I are looking to rent a house in Columbia, SC, preferably in the Forest Acres neighborhood. Has to allow dogs. We wanted to reach out and see if anyone had their own rental they were looking to fill. Trying to stay away from property management companies. If anyone owns a house in Columbia and is looking for a young responsible couple and a senior dog to be great tenants, we would love to connect. Lease start date negotiable.
Sumter school district confiscated 730 vapes this school year. If there's approximately 7,000 students in the county middle and high schools, they confiscated about 1 vape per every 100 students.
It usually starts growing everywhere by now but I don't see it in people's yards or on the side of the road. Is the drought so bad that even that awful weed isn't growing?
I would love to hear hospice stories for people with dementia/Alzheimer’s. Might be changing agencies. I'll take your bad stories too - let me know where not to go.
Small group staying on Lake Murray for 4 days the last weekend in May. We want to make the most of the lake and check out Columbia while we're in town.
We aren't super picky, but we’d love some local insight on a few things:
Appreciate any recommendations or hidden gems we should check out that you're willing to share. Thanks in advance!
I am looking for an experienced electrician that knows the area and can help me build the company I started. This is a fairly new company (established in 2025) but I want someone who is honest, dependable, and driven to want to be their best self.
What I am not looking for is a person that doesn’t have reliable transportation, can work independently, that can’t stay sober, and that doesn’t care about building their career in tandem with the business.
Ideally once more customers are being brought in and the work becomes more steady I envision this person running the day to day operations. This will become a senior management position for the right person and possibly turn into an ownership opportunity.
I eventually want to step away from the business and retire and I will be helping this person learn how to run the business as well as procure the necessary licensing in the future when I step away.
This position will require time to evolve into a management position as starting out the position will basically be myself and this person until we can purchase vehicles and hire more employees.
This his person will have a say in hiring, training, direction of the business, and other aspects of operations.
Pay will be low in the beginning but as we build this persons salary will grow. I aim to pay employees of this company hourly and pay above market rates but only for the right people.
There will be no commission, no base salary plus percentage, or any other weird pay schemes.
Also this company will not be owned by private equity and will aim to take as many customers from these entities as possible.
If you know an electrician who has been looking to break into a management role or that wants to expand their knowledge and experience share this post with them and tell them to DM me and I will set up a meeting with them.
I am not looking for people that can’t work without supervision or that need to be trained as of now but hope to soon.
Thanks and take care Columbia.
Governor McMaster signed yesterday. The new law immediately:
Prohibits flavored nitrous oxide product sales
Bans tobacco retailers (vape shops, smoke shops) from selling nitrous oxide entirely
Requires documented exempt-entity status for all other sales
Creates SLED enforcement authority over the new offenses
Five Points smoke shops and vape stores statewide are affected. Existing inventory of flavored products is now unsellable. Tobacco retailers selling nitrous oxide of any kind are now in violation.

The bill passed Senate 42-0, House 116-0, no opposition recorded at any stage. Governor signed May 18th.
My family will be moving from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, to Columbia this summer. It's a really fast transition: We just found out two weeks ago that my husband's job is taking us there, and schools start in early August, so we're pretty stressed.
We have two boys who are finishing 3rd and 6th grades. Our 6th grader is neurodivergent and doesn't handle change well. He has anxiety and ADHD, and when he's stressed he struggles with emotional regulation.
Our primary goal is to settle near a school that handles neurodivergent kids and IEPs well. We have had bad experiences and good experiences at schools. He's in a great school now, and I'm really sad that we have to pull him from it.
Can anyone recommend districts or schools that handle IEPs and neurodivergent kids well? We will consider private school if needed, but we'd prefer public school because they are required to honor IEPs.
I am especially interested to hear from parents, teachers, or students with direct experiences managing IEPs at the schools in the area. Are there any schools we should seek out? Any we should avoid?
I may have to move at the end of this year (Right now, I rent a home in the Avenues in West Columbia) and the past couple of days, I was working a graduation at Segra Park and wondered if anyone here lives in any of the apartments in the Bull St. District and if so, what do you think about it?
I wanted to go but had to take care of my mother. How was it? I can't find any info on if there will be another
My brother, his wife and their soon to be 1 year old live in Columbia. For the babies 1st bday I am considering gifting a family membership to somewhere the baby can run around and the adults can still enjoy themselves. I'm pretty convinced Riverbanks is the way to go, but it's been a while since I've been to Columbia, so I want to make sure there's not somewhere else I should be looking at. Any other suggestions within an hour of Columbia?
Edit: thanks for the confirmation that Riverbanks was the best option!

Haven’t been around the Decker area for quite sometime and someone I went with regularly told me they had closed for good? Can anyone confirm cause that is the furthest I’m willing to drive to get good galbi before I just decide to make it myself 😭😂
Hello, I'm looking for hair stylists and/or salons that specialize in Black hair. I'm specifically looking for ones that provide the hair for braided and twisted styles, includes shampooing and drying in the price, no deposits before the appointment, and doesn't discriminate against kinky/coily hair types. Basically, no crazy rules.
I already go to Steel City Barber and Beauty Shop. I just need another stylist in case they're not available.
Basically the title, and trying to stay vague because they’re still affiliated with their branch of the military. I’m trying to help look for jobs for my friend with certifications in Calibration (94 Hotel was the designation they gave me?) who lost their position due to government restructuring. They’ve been trying to look for stuff that fits their certifications but they’ll take anything at this point as long as they can start soon. Their rent is about $1200 a month so preferably something that could help cover their budget. They also have a background in Administrative work and will basically work wherever would pay them, lol.
Thanks in advance!
