My company laid off people for Israeli contractors.

I work for BlueCross BlueShield based in Columbia, SC. Last week our company laid off about 200 employees, they found out 2 days before the end of the workweek and many of them were not given severance because our policy is to not give severance if notice is given.

Our company just signed a $5 million contract with an Israeli contracting firm, based in Boston but the contractors are based in Tel Aviv. We have a part of the company that contains software developers, cybersecurity experts, and plenty of technical specialists. Why the HELL are we hiring contractors outside the US?

Not only are these contractors operating outside the US, but they have access to current and historical medical claim data. Employees are vetted and certain barriers prevent us from working overseas due to state regulations but we did not vet this company. We have no way of knowing what these people do with this information.

I tried reporting them but was ghosted, the next best option was to create a Reddit account and inform the people of SC. I don’t want to scare anyone but with the way things are headed I would prefer people know before it’s too late.
