Hey! Day 1 is over—here’s my recap:
Two games in the morning, one in the afternoon. We rotated among the 8 tables, with each game featuring a different scenario and opponent. We beat the heat by drinking beer, hahaha.
Curious locals stopped by to see what the event was all about—one neighbor even told me his son asked him for miniatures and paints for Christmas! A huge win for the hobby and the community.
As for me personally, I lost my first game against Dwarf Rangers. I played really badly—I kept my warlord too far away from the troll and, well… took way too many hits.
Second game: victory against the Undead. My chariot’s horse died, and I had to buy another one, but that wasn’t a big deal.
Third game: a victory against Forest Goblins. I got a very open table and was able to move my chariot easily. We played a little “bowling” with the goblins. Their Frenzy didn’t do much when you hit and wound on a 5+ and try it against a troll and an ogre.
More tomorrow! Here are a few photos. It’s worth noting that one of the rules in the tournament guidelines was that we could have a chariot with a horse for free (even if it’s depicted with a different design). That crazy Portuguese buddy of mine brought a land ship, for example, hahaha. I’m also posting a photo of the table where we’ve set up the warbands for voting to see who wins the painting prize.
I hope you like it, and I hope more people come next year so we’ll have more than 16 players! There’s plenty of space here!
Aramordheim is hosting a 16 player tournament this weekend, even with one portuguese friend!! Everyone will play 5 games, multiple winners for painting, lore, terrain…
Second picture is my table, not so much but honest work haha
Tournament is about Empire on Flames, everyone has a free wagon. More pics at the end of the weekend!
I bought two 60x120cm XPS panels months ago with the idea of making a table to play Mordheim at home. I have tons of 3D-printed buildings, but I don't have a playmat, and playing on the white table looks awful.
I’m not really into the idea of just drawing cobblestones and having a flat 120x120 surface—I’d just buy a mat for that. But honestly, I don’t even know where to start. I see videos and photos on this subreddit where people play with heights in incredible ways, making modular boards with four 60x60 pieces and some truly wild setups. To start with, I guess I should buy more XPS? What thickness would be right to standardize things a bit when it comes to stairs, climbing, and jumping? I’d also have to come up with a design with flat sections to place my buildings on, so that every game is on a slightly different city.
I don’t have a wire cutter—just a utility knife, scissors, pliers… That said, I have plenty of stones for texturing, haha, and an “unlimited” supply of foam in different densities and finishes, but not the XPS foam kind—it doesn’t hold onto the texture you apply to it very well…
I'm a pretty new painter, started February 2025.
This past week a friend asked me to paint his Middenheim warband. I offered him "tabletop" level, please tell me if you would consider this enough, not enough or too much.
Glued the minis, primed, painted, varnished and added two magnets per base. Total ~10h.
He is wanting to tip me something, but dunno how much. In Spain this things are not valued in general.
Thank you everyone!
