Looking for advice on Ford Protect ESP + Ford Maintenance Protection Plan for my 2026 Ranger 2.7L EcoBoost

Hi everyone,

I just took delivery of my 2026 Ford Ranger and I am about to finalize the paperwork/payment. Before I make my final decision, I would like to get some opinions from people who have experience with Ford Protect plans.

My truck is a 2026 Ford Ranger XLT 301A, 2.7L EcoBoost with rear locking differential

I plan to keep this truck for many years and use it for normal driving plus hunting trips.

The dealer offered me:

Ford Protect PremiumCARE Extended Service Plan

$3,000 CAD before taxes 8 years / 80,000 km They told me it covers 1,000+ components and basically everything except normal wear and maintenance items.

Ford Plus Maintenance Protection Plan

$4,500 CAD before taxes 96 months / 100,000 km 14 maintenance visits every 6 months or 8,000 km Includes oil changes, filters, inspections, tire rotations, transmission fluid, coolant, spark plugs, 4x4 maintenance, and other scheduled maintenance/wear items depending on the contract.

My driving is fairly low:

Around 6,000–7,000 km per year Mostly short trips Some hunting trips

I am interested in the protection because I plan to keep the Ranger for a long time, but I would like to understand the real-world value.

My questions for Ford Protect PremiumCARE owners:

What are the most common repairs you have had that were not covered by PremiumCARE? What parts do people often assume are covered but are actually considered wear items? Have you ever had a claim denied? If so, what was the reason?

For example: If I drive on rough city roads and a ball joint fails because of potholes or poor road conditions, would that normally be covered under PremiumCARE, or would Ford consider it road damage/wear and tear?

For anyone who bought the Ford Plus Maintenance Protection Plan:

Did you feel you got your money’s worth? Would you buy it again?

I would appreciate any real-world experiences before I finalize everything.

Thanks!
