James Bond should not be cast as as a sexy man
James Bond is being recast right now and I am seeing a lot of people considering more and more attractive actors for the role. And I don't think that should be the case.
Without even getting into the books, James Bond is a spy. In every film, he is getting shot at, blown up, burnt, frozen, thrown off cliffs, beaten up, so on. He is not going to be lacking scars, for one. And he's been doing this job for years now. He should be looking a little rougher.
And he's experienced at this job. He's not young. He shouldn't look like he'd blend in at a college party. He's supposed to be just at the edge between action hero age and middle-aged. He shouldn't look out of place or catch attention at a pub or a country club.
His charm is what gets him ahead frequently, not his looks. He shouldn't be ugly, don't get me wrong, but not a 10/10. He's supposed to be an 7.5, maybe 8 at best and look like someone who'd be used to knocking people around.
