Over and over again, people on r/StLouis are scandalized by unpunished criminal behavior in the city. People with no plates or insurance doing hit-and-runs. People with off-leash pitbulls in public parks.
Inevitably, someone strikes a counterpoint about how the police are racist or in the service of the wealth hoarding billionaire class, or Jefferson City, or a cult/gang with their own agenda. Or alternately, commenters suggest that the bad behavior is a result of larger societal trends, capitalism, etc. Or someone else will chime in with "every city is like this".
What are we supposed to do? Just accept it?
