City water bills to increase 64% over 6 years

Board Bill 25 would raise city water bills in several stages. Rates would increase 18% on July 1, followed by another 18% hike on Jan. 1 next year. On Jan. 1, 2028, bills would go up an additional 6%, with further 6% increases on Jan. 1 of both 2029 and 2030. After that, rates would rise by 5% in 2031 and again in 2032.

That’s 64% in hikes but it’s compounded so it’s 83% over the term of the hikes

I looked up the “Jehovah will heal you” billboard leaving Lambert and… wow.

I saw that giant “Jehovah Will Heal You” billboard leaving Lambert for the first time and immediately had to look it up because seeing a man holding a pile of crutches leaving the airport feels like the start of a fever dream.

Apparently it’s David E. Taylor, a preacher who says he has face to face encounters with Jesus and runs a healing ministry focused on miracle cures and prophetic stuff. Then I found out the ministry was based around the STL area for years, owned properties out in west county, and even bought Nelly’s old mansion at one point. Then the rabbit hole got even weirder with all the controversy and recent federal charges tied to the organization.

Meanwhile I spent the entire Uber ride home giving the driver updates like “wait, it gets worse” and I’m pretty sure he now thinks he accidentally picked up someone in the middle of a true crime awakening.

I really thought it was just a random weird billboard.

Where to watch the world cup?

Are there any places in the St.Louis City/County area that will be great places to watch the World Cup coming up? I wasn't sure if there are places with a Jumbotron that plan to have some matches up or certain sport bars that are recommended?

I know of The Pitch near the Energizer Stadium and Amsterdam Tavern. Any other recommendations/events?

Tomatillo plants

Has anyone seen tomatillo plants at stores this year? If yes, where? I haven’t had any luck searching online to confirm that they are in stock at any of the big box stores, and surely don’t want to drive all over heck and tarnation looking for them given the price of gas.

Soul Brains (Bad Brains) Creepy Crawl 2001

This is inspired by a thread a few months ago mentioning the White Stripes at the Creepy Crawl. Bad Brains are my favorite punk bank of all time and I am fortunate enough to have been able to see them at such a small venue. I was 17 atthe time. I believe they were suppose to play Mississippi Nights but it may have undersold.

Where you there? Do you live Bad Brains? I would LOVE to see any pictures or videos from that show. I already searched YouTube with no success.

Proper shaming

I saw this posted on some STL Facebook group and had to share it here with you all. Someone received this anonymously in the mail, this is how you properly shame your neighbors 😂 Maybe if we all sent just one letter, we could make a difference.

Pregnant cat in search of a home

UPDATE:

We got a second opinion and unfortunately, she was too far along for an abortion. However, I want to thank everyone who shared links and resources. We were able to connect with a shelter that is able to keep her safe until all her kittens are weened and then we’ll be able to take her back to her forever home with us! Definitely gonna make sure is able to be spayed as soon as possible as well.

Found 2 days ago by my coworker in Wentzville. We’ve been taking care of her for the time being, but we unfortunately don’t have the capacity for a pregnant cat right now. She comes with a carrier, litter, litter box, food bowl, pet bed, and some cat food to get you started. We unfortunately don’t know how far along she is or how many she’s carrying. She’s a really sweet girl that warms up to any human that comes near. I’m willing to meet you wherever you are.

Idea for the City: Let’s convert our 600 miles of alleyways into pedestrian/bike friendly paths

St. Louis Magazine recently highlighted a group looking to beautify alleyways using native plants. Why don’t we take it a step further and reclaim our alleys from trash dumpers and make St Louis one of the most pedestrian friendly cities in the world by beautifying our alleyways.

Outraged and deeply disturbed?

I'll forever have a favorite sign that I saw at a downtown protest last year. "Wesley Bell is an AIPAC whore." If the sign owner is in this reddit group... kudos!

There is lots to say regarding this letter that I received in the mail, along with the texts and phone calls I keep getting. However, I'll let it speak for itself.
