A six-story apartment building is in the works near Chouteau and Jefferson avenues in Lafayette Square.
The St. Louis Preservation Board on Monday gave preliminary approval for the project planned on the eastern corner on Missouri Avenue.
Few details about the project were disclosed at the board meeting, but Carlos Goldberg of Killeen Studio Architects told the Lafayette Square Neighborhood Association earlier this month that 134 units were planned.
St. Louis-based Graddy Investments is the owner, an agenda for a neighborhood meeting shows.
Although located in the Lafayette Square Historical District, the project is located on the neighborhood's northern edge where design standards are more relaxed, said Bob Bettis, director of the city's Cultural Resources Office, which staffs the board.
