Apex Predator - the silly feline anthem!

Hi! I'd like to show you the music video for a new song I wrote the lyrics for. In it, I humorously express my admiration for felines.

My cats are also featured in the video. For those of them who are no longer with me, this may be the last time anyone will see them. They were always there for me – when I was feeling sad and lonely, when bombs were exploding nearby, they came to purr and cuddle when I was sick... I think I'm still alive only because of their love. So I tried really hard to make a happy song for them that would reflect all the joy they brought me.

The rest of the cats in the video are from the internet, specially selected to convey this hymn of love for furry and whiskered friends as amusingly as possible.

Lyrics:

[Verse]

Praise to the feline

Masters of the night!

They see moving leg -

And get ready to fight!

Sharpening claws

On your brand new chair

Turning apartment

In their furry lair

They are living liquid

Squeezing through the cracks!

They always will find a way

To steal all of your snacks!

[pre-chorus]

They licking their own butts

With absolute pride

There is nowhere to run,

There is nowhere to hide!!!

[Chorus]

Behold the apex predator,

Sleeping on your face

Find traces of the fur

In every single place

They knock a glass off counter

Just to watch it shatter

Because in their domain,

Your opinions don't matter!

[Verse]

Sitting like a statue

Sleeping like a bread!

Screaming like a demons

Wanting to be fed!

Bringing the dead mouse

Right under your bed

Then demanding friction

Applied to their head!

On something so cute

You just cannot be mad

Those adorable creatures

Simply cannot be bad!

Tiny wet nose,

Gentle, warm purr

The perfect creations

All covered in fur!

[Chorus]

Behold the apex predator,

Sleeping on your face

Find traces of the fur

In every single place

They knock a glass off counter

Just to watch it shatter

Because in their domain,

Your opinions don't matter!

[Outro]

Most adorable

Killing machine

Purr on my lap

And sees the sweet dream

Cats are purr-fection!

They are just rad!

What about dogs?

Also not bad.

Hi! Today, i released Breadwalk, a short free to play story-driven game about life of civillians during the war. This will be my last game. And this is the story about how it was made and about my path in gamedev.

I am obsessed with storytelling. Apart from mental challenges, i also have a physical disability that prevents me from doing many things irl, so being a part of a good story is pretty much the only way for me to enjoy life and feel all kinds of emotions. Also, storytelling is one of the few things in this world that i understand well, that makes perfect sense for me, and that i enjoy doing. And interactive one works best for me, since it allows to immerse better into the story, and sometimes even shape the story with your own choices. Well, that, and the fact that i can't stand passive activities for long, and need to do someting, to interact with the world. I would say that stories are my world, and the real one is just a place i have to endure.

So i spent last 25 years of my life creating games. And that is not easy if you are a writer, and unable to learn any technical skills. All of the teams i worked with felt apart without finishing anything, all my job applications were left unasnwered, so eventually i just started doing it alone, even if it limited my scope dramaticly. I released several decent games, that had a good reception (my very first game, Project Fire has 111 reviews and sits on mostly positive), but seems like my gamedev journey is coming to an end, since i don't know which is in worse state - my health, energy, finances, or desire to live. So this game will probably be my last.

I made it at the end of last year for a contest, but only received an "honorable mention." Then, during the massive winter power outages after russians bombed our energy structure, I somehow managed to make a Ukrainian translation and release the game on Itch, and now I've finally scraped together enough money to release it on Steam. I even managed to add some new content and music, 33 achievements, and fixed some translation errors.

The game's story tells a story about life away from the front during wartime. There's no heroism or victories, and all you need to do is go to the store and buy some bread, listening to the protagonist's reflections on this conflict and how it changes the lives of everyone it touches. In this game, only one character has a name—and that's no coincidence, as they're all "nameless," the ones who won't be mentioned in the news, talked about, or likely even remembered. But each of them has their own life with dreams, fears, and hopes, and despite the bombings, they try to live on.

The story is fully fictional, but, as some might have quessed - are inspired by my life in Ukraine. Though, i think that the things i speak about are universal for any conflict.

This is an adventure game, also known as a "walking simulator." You probably could also quess that from the name) There are some interactive elements, but not many, so it's not for those who enjoy active gameplay. You'll mostly be reading or listening to the main character's monologues, and dialogues with various oddballs, walking, and completing small tasks.

The game also has three hidden endings. If you're interested in unlocking them, I'll give you a hint: when you enter the city, go left, look for a note, and... start counting. If your count is correct, the condition can be fulfilled on a second playthrough.

The game is completely free: it's too short to put a price tag on it, and I generally don't like doing that. Plus, this is likely my last game, and I don't have much life left in me, so there's no point in thinking about the future. However, for those who really want to support me, there are support packs. Since I hate microtransactions, they don't contain any in-game content, only bonuses like the soundtrack.

If the game is in English and you want to switch to Ukrainian (or vice versa), right-click on it in the library, select "Properties," and the first menu will offer an option to switch languages.

This is the trailer - https://youtu.be/VkqbKr5zIS8

This is the game - https://store.steampowered.com/app/4860480/Breadwalk/

That's all for now, thank you for your attention. I welcome any feedback—both general impressions and detailed analyses—if anyone is interested in sharing their opinions. You can leave them here, but it's better to leave them in Steam reviews so everyone who considers to play the game can read them too (and if you get at least 10 reviews, it will help people on Steam immediately see the overall rating percentage).

Also, if you know where else game can be shared (i am not allowed to post on most big game-related subs due to various weird rules) , I'll be glad if you do, since I don't have money for advertising, and the game is not commercial, so simply talking about it is the only way to let people know that it even exists.

If you have any questions - ask, i am always glad to talk about games or gamedev.

Is there a special term in english for people who crave for any kind of power to abuse it?

In my language there is term that translates somewhat like "janitor syndrome", that means a petty person who strives for any kind of little power he can grab because he feels good when he ignores or abuses someone down the line, making them follow nonsensical, convoluted rules or just punishes them because he wants to, and never communicates normally, but instead orders people around.

I was unable to find direct translation for the term. It is not a thing in english?

Stuck with the scene for days, dozens of generations do nothing, need help with the prompt from people with experience.

This is the shot with my character that i need to animate: https://ibb.co/N68gPHW4

The scene i need is for character to step forward and start falling down. Camera follows the character. Somewhere in the middle of the way the darkness emerges and engulfs him, transforming into black wings, and then he flies over the city towards the burning pipes on the horizon.

First problem i run into - is constant generation refusals due to censorship. But it is solved by just repeating request over and over. I don't think there is other solutions since beginning of the scene is meant to look like suicide attempt, and i guess that the ai brain is unable to figure out that it atcually ends well and is a methaphor for fighting the desire to die.

The main problem is that there is always one thing that goes wrong:

  • Character glitching during the fall, turning to various sides

  • Character floating, gliding forward instead of falling down

  • Character slows down the fall before wings open

  • Once i had it nearly perfect, but the character teleported into second scene after the fall, despite me asking for it to be a single shot.

  • Darkness often does not fully enshrouds his body, and barely even present like a small smoke. It is not that important, but would be good to fix as well.

I am tired and have no idea what else to do. Maybe someone will suggest me how to correct the prompt? Current one, that gave me results that were very close from being good:

A man in a dark suit steps forward and starts falling vertically head-first, perfectly perpendicular to the ground. His arms are pressed to his sides. He plummets at a high speed. The camera pans down rapidly to follow his descent. Wind whips through his clothes (but no wind effect on screen). Blur effect from speed, photorealistic. Then, the darkness fully enshrouds his body for a second, and then darkness transforms into beautiful black wings, and he flies very fast above the city towards the burning pipes on the horizon. Single shot, no camera switches.

Do you not fully understand specific concepts?

I understand what it means but i do not understand why people feel that way.

Like shame, for example. I can only understand it partially, like feeling bad when you did something really wrong, hurt someone for example, or made really bad job. But people seems to experience it when they wear something the others dislike (or even just might dislike), when they are seen naked, when they expressing their views, when they enjoying certain stuff...

Faith, where people just believe in things without requiring any proof of their existence.

Relationship things. Like why people desire to keep other people only to themselves and deny them opportunity to have romantic relatiopnship with someone else as well. Or why sex has such a cult about it when it's just a massage of genitalia, so why it is different from back massage? Why they even need relationship to have sex?

The rituals, why people are so much obsessed with doing things specific way when it makes no sense at all. Like desire to dress in ugly clothing with nooses on their necks for official events, and force others to do the same.

Power of words. They can hurt or help people. But for me, they are just a way to deliver information. If information does not translate into benefit (like explaining how to do something), then words also do not carry benefit. And if someone says something mean, well... that's just sound, not action, it does not hurt.

Being overly concerned, even fanatical about irrelevant things. My mother believes that any normal human would instantly start negatively discussing other people as soon as they spot something out of the ordinary on them. For her, acting normal is the ultimate goal, more important than health or comfort. Or this guy i recently spoke with on reddit, who said that it is a good thing that russians attacked my country, because they had big cultural influence and was making russian language and culture more acceptable. And when i asked about all the people who died or were hurt in the war, he told that it is better for them to die than to be influenced by the russians. And his answer were upvoted, so others agreed with him...

Celebrity worship. If a deranged person says someting crazy, it is usually ignored. But when some celebrity says so, it is all over the news. It's like... they are just people. There are zero difference between president and homeless, its just a job they have, but people treat them different for some reason.

Lies for the sake of lies. Lies is generally one of the things i hate the most in this life, but i can use them in dangerous situation. And i understand why others are using them when they can gain something from it. But some people just lie all the time, even if it will not give them any kind of benefits.

Can anyone explain in simple terms why genrative services are so expencive and projected to cost even more in the future?

At this point, image generation even on free services takes only a few seconds. 10-second video is generated in less than a minute (also on free, i assume it might be even faster on paid where you have the priority, but maybe not). But somehow generative services still expect you to pay like 50$ for something like 26 video generations total. What is the point of offering a monthly plan that will be spent in 26 minutes? Also, it means that by simply having their server online, they earn 50$ every half hour. That seems like a lot (my monthly income in half hour), considering the scale they work at. I have no idea how people afford to generate so many good quality videos, since that would require multiple mothly subscribtions to make just one. And that is still not enough for the service providers? Why there is rumors about them increasing prices even more?

Are our brains in sleep mode work just as generative AI, but without directions?

The dreams i am seeing really reminded me the very early generative videos, where unprompted AI just took the information and smashed it together without any logic. So, out brains work in the same way when they aren't controlled by our Self? Piecing the reality and attempt to randomly reassemble it?

Цiкаво iнше:

Тобто нi генпрокурор, нi міністр оборони, нi навiть президент не подумав про те, що давати такiй людинi зброю - це погана iдея.

Людинi з такими дiагнозами навiть продавати зброю не повиннi.

Wanted to share Love and Create - a song i wrote lyrics for.

Hello! Normally, i am a video game writer, but throughout my life i was writing text for songs about things i feel and think about. I never planned to share them, just needed some way to let my feelings out, but now, so many years later i finally have the chance to see them become the actual songs, so i thought - why not show them to someone? Since i am living in isolation due to my sickness, this is pretty much the only way for me to communicate my true feelings, share something with the others, and now i am curious to find out what others think of my writing. And so i started uploading the songs online.

The plot of this song is about how incredibly sick I am of watching people fall for manipulation and propaganda time and time again, forcing them to hate and even exterminate each other, while the elites rub their hands, calculating the benefits of the conflicts they orchestrate. They never learn, do they? And all I can say about this is: love, bitches, and create. And not all this crap. Is it really that hard?

The little animated video: https://youtu.be/KqLLuVwz0rM

The lyrics video: https://youtu.be/6z75VEbXA54

Lyrics:

[Verse]
Anger screams through little screen
They monetize your hate
Words that come from the machine
Make you resonate

Words, that meant to sow mistrust
Find way into your mind
Those, who sitting up above
Want to make you blind

Go to the left, go to the right
Just chose a fucking team!
And do not pay attention
For their clever little scheme!!!

[pre-chorus]
They sit in towers, painting the targets red
We bleed in the streets, that they never tread...

[Chorus]
Love and create!
Explore the universe!
Forget the hate!
It weighs on you like curse!

Tear down the walls
They forced us to build
Don't dig the graves
They'll never see them filled!

Put down your phone
And look into my eyes!
When it comes to love
We'll never compromize!

Even if stars will fall,
I'm always at your side!
So, let's stand together
Strong against the night!

[Verse]
Centuries we spent
Drawing lines on maps
Then killing each other
So the blood will fill the gaps

But look at your hands,
Are they made to take a life?
Is your only purpose
Is creating endless strife?

Not a soul was made
To face the universe alone.
Let the masters rot
Sitting on their ugly throne

We are not their tools,
We the architects of light
Let's find our strength
In the place, where dreams unite!

[pre-chorus]
I see the brilliance in you,
You see the vision in me
Two different melodies attune
And form a perfect harmony!

[Chorus]
Love and create!
Explore the universe!
Forget the hate!
It weighs on you like curse!

Tear down the walls
They forced us to build
Don't dig the graves
They'll never see them filled!

Put down your phone
And look into my eyes!
When it comes to love
We'll never compromise!

Even if stars will fall,
I'm always at your side!
So, let's stand together
Strong against the night!

[Outro]
We find our strength when our dreams intertwine
In the things we make, your deepest thoughts meet mine.
So, let's make a vow: we will not succumb to hate
Better, brighter world - is now ours to create!

This is it.
Just tell me what you think... And since i mostly wrote the lyrics, and signing and music aren't mine, would be great to hear about the lyrics first.

I have two other songs currently released, but i wasn't sure if it will be a good idea to post them here, because sounding wise they are more alt\mcore. However, the feelings that i put in the lyrics are just as raw as here, so you can check them out as well, if you want.

Is it evil if you know that punishment is wrong, and there is no consequence for not issuing it, but still decide to proceed with it because "it is the rule"?

I don't really understand what to think of people who make such choices. Let's say that a person is in position of power and spots some rule he has to enforce, and that person knows for sure (or has the ability to easily find out) that the punishment is unjust, and there is zero consequence for not enforcing it - the enforcer can just pretend that he saw nothing, but he decides to still proceed with the enforcing the rule and issuing the punishment.

Of course, the main blame lays at the person who sets the rule. And that is usually how enforcer explains the choice - "i did not set the rule, i only enforce it". But if he also knows that the people who set the rule do not care about fairness and are not reasonable enough to have any kind of conversation about justification of their rules - even if they are clearly wrong, they still still chose to have rule enforced since they don't like to be wrong. And for same reason they will never publicly discuss their decicions.

So what motivates people to uphold the rules that they are know are wrong? Is there some meaning that is hidden from me in blindly following directions without questioning them?

Also i am not sure if that can be considering evil or not. They might have no malicious intent, but still kinda enabling the bullying of the weak and unprotected people by those who sets the unfair judgement, even if they absolutly don't have to?

No rest for the wicked...

Може пам'ятаєте мій недавнiй пост про неадекватнi вiдписки адмiна з reddit ukr пiсля якого вiн мене там забанив?)

Breath control on RX is not doing anything at all?

I am new to this so i am not sure if i am doing anything wrong. I select the part of the song with a heavy inhale sound. I select the mode, for example - heavy breath supression. I click preview, and... nothing changes. Even if i do the render, nothing changes as well. Why?

How much of how humans perceive the art depends on the artist's identity?

A rather hilarious story i came across, here is the screenshot of comments - https://ibb.co/y72xC0h

The guy posted an "AI-generated image in Monet style", inviting people to tell why it is inferior to original author's style. They did, quite harshly. Then he revealed that it was the actual painting of Monet, and not an AI.

Seems like the sole claim that the picture is the work of an AI is enough for people to start seing "AI-related flaws" even if there aren't any.

And people not only can't tell the difference, but also can easily believe that work of a human is AI generation.

Which got me thinking... How much of people's opinions are skewed depending on who is the author? Are those who hate AI will always look for some flaws to talk about, or those who love certain artist will look for a way to praise the picture, if they think it is the work of such artist? Would they ignore it if they thought that it is a work of an unknown guy?

Would be really interesting to have an experiment of two stages:

  1. Take the previously unreleased work (does not matter what kind of art will be - visual, audio, interactive, etc) of someone's famous, and post it - A) claiming that it is an AI work B) That it is a work of beginner artist

  2. Take the works of an AI and beginner artist and post in on channel of someone's famous, claiming it as their work.

I am geniunly curious what kind of feedback that might collect, and what would that tell us of how people perceive art. How much quality of the art actually matters compared to the fame and audience reach?

And what do you think about that?
