3rd party sellers can change their display name to "Walmart" such that their items display as "Sold and shipped by Walmart". (Seller was actually Vipoutlet)
I just bought a giant TV. There was an open box TV for about 15-20% less than the going price. The item said "Shipped and Sold by Walmart". The price seemed reasonable, and I purchase open box things frequently, and it usually goes ok. Well the TV arrived and it was not open box, the screen was totally smashed. I went to initiate my return and it said I needed to contact a 3rd party seller. Which was odd because the item was sold and shipped by "Walmart". I was confused so I contacted Walmart customer service. Customer service was also confused then talked to their manager. They noted that the seller had changed their display name to "Walmart" and that is why it said "Sold and shipped by Walmart". I would not have purchased such a large item if I knew it was not directly from Walmart. The seller is actually "vipoutlet" I hope this is easily sorted out. Customer service noted that they would help me if the seller did not.
I can't believe the Walmart 3rd party online system would let a seller change their name to "Walmart"!
