Dell Latitude 5289 keyboard randomly stops working + BIOS update failing

I have a Dell Latitude 5289 running Windows 10 and I’m facing a very weird keyboard issue.

Symptoms:

  • Laptop keyboard randomly stops working completely
  • Keyboard backlight stays ON when this happens
  • Normally the backlight turns off after inactivity
  • Sometimes it starts working again after full shutdown and waiting a few seconds
  • External devices and mouse work fine
  • At first the keyboard worked fine in BIOS, but recently it also stopped briefly inside BIOS once before working again after reboot

Things I tried:

  • Reinstalling keyboard drivers
  • Restarting multiple times
  • Hard shutdown/power drain
  • BIOS Flash Update through F12 menu

Current BIOS version:
1.9.1

Tried updating BIOS to:
1.35.0

But BIOS update keeps failing. No error just red line "Firmware update failed"

I have no idea why this is happening if anyone knows anything kindly help

  1. Does this sound more like firmware/embedded controller issue or hardware (keyboard ribbon/cable)?
  2. Could charger/power detection be related to both BIOS update failure and keyboard issue?
  3. Is there any known issue with Latitude 5289 models regarding keyboard/controller problems?
  4. Is clean Windows reinstall even worth trying at this point?

Any help appreciated because this laptop is slowly becoming spiritually unstable.

Note:- I cant switch to any other OS (wish i could i fucking hate Windows) cause im working on UiPath software
