First off, I’d like to extend an apology to all of those who could not find me on the correct server (which was pretty much everyone.) Unfortunately the system makes it difficult to find specific groups because of the queuing. If anybody has suggestions, I’d love to hear them. In future events I throw, perhaps the spirit of the event can be carried over to other servers and high-end players can lead groups on a party circuit as well.
Now on to the report:
We had a very rough start. We were not legion. There weren’t even dozens of us!
There were only three.
One guy took the gear and bailed. That left two of us.
So we headed back to the main base to find more stragglers, found none and flew to Warden to begin the party of two.
Fanny’s Paradise was empty, so we moved on to Blue Lagoon and took it out, flanking left and right through that confusing maze.
We stopped at Arsenal for resupply then made for Tiger Bay Mall. Along the way we met another player who’s mic initially didn’t work, so there was a lot of sign language and “What’s that Lassie? You want to go to the Mall?” going on. TBM produced some good loot (including a laser designator, which we gave the newbie) and we cleaned house, headed back to Harrison, then the main base.
At Mithras a major gear fiesta went down, with random players tossing free high end weapons, ammo, armor, med supplies, Delta packs, etc. The newbies also got a useful lecture from a level 50 pro on best ammo and armor, how to read the stats, etc. I learned a few things about repairs as well.
Now we were four (or maybe more, the edible had kicked in so perhaps I was seeing double.) Anyhow, we were now a posse and we decided to take on Fort Narith. We landed at Lima 1, killed everyone at the LLA Checkpoint to the west as a warmup, then took out the guards at the back entrance and slipped into the base. I acted as observer with binocs and glassed the area for bad guys then called them out to the newbies. Our sniper gave Narith soldiers the business with his M700. More Redditors joined us here, so our numbers grew.
Moving to the tower, we cleared it then parked at the top and took more fools out. I tried to take a screenshot, because at one point everyone was lined up on the roof shooting at bad guys and it looked fucking awesome. But I couldn’t get it to work and remembered that what happens in Lamang stays in Lamang!
After dealing with some guys on the rooftop, we moved to the HQ, with the newbies going in mad-dog style, cleaning house like the badasses they are. We were running low on ammo and meds, so the crew headed to Bronco, resupplied, then took a helo from Delta 2 to Golf 2 to take out Pha Lang, which we did. Because we’re badasses. Then we marched to Tomahawk with a stop at Sunny Skies Guest House to show them the spooky basement.
Moving north, we hit Midnight Sapphire. I showed them the Teoa Viewpoint to the northeast. Everyone sneaked up behind the sniper on the platform then we all opened up on him. Poor guy. After I gave them the lay of the land we took out a bunch of bad guys at the hotel and along the lakefront. Once clear (including the snipers on top of MS) we moved down the west side of the lake with a quick detour to Hotel Facilities.
At MS we did our thing, the newbies getting some good CQB in while scoring decent loot. After a tour (I showed them the secret room) and lots of smoke grenades on the third floor, we cleared the Golf Club then headed southwest through the main gate. After a small firefight we moved north to pass by Employee Housing and the motel.
At the motel I got killed by – you guessed it – a Hawaiian shirt guy with an MP5, my only death that night. We resupplied at Argos and trekked west to take out Hunter’s Paradise. It was late and people were feeling pretty haggard, so after dealing with Hunter’s, we decided to head to Hotel 3 for final exfil. I talked the group into taking out the LAF Checkpoint north of the bridge and we had a pretty festive firefight with a wandering squad that came down the hill. And of course one of our guys took a headshot and went down. So we waited until he was back and finally trekked back to Hotel, and finally the main base.
Overall, we had a fantastic night. It was a fun group and the newbies held their own, especially the guy with the shotty. I’ll definitely be throwing more events in the future. Because of server issues, perhaps people can form groups of their own, with high end players helping them out with initial gear. In the meantime, be on the lookout for another Free Lamang Patrol Party announcement.
Cheers!
