Hi everyone! Me again lol

I’m hoping to get some advice on sizing for the Oscha Cairis carrier. I’m very torn about whether or not the regular or XL size would be better for me. My baby is 3 months old, so I’m hoping to do some front carrying with him for the next few months and then transition to more back carries when he’s a bit older.

My current waist measurement is about 96 cm. I know that the waistband on the regular carrier is 27"/ 69cm to 54/137cm, but in a reddit thread I came across, someone mentioned that the padded section on the regular Cairis is only 91cm. I’m worried that the webbing on the unpadded section may be uncomfortable on my waist.

Because of this, I wondered if the XL might be a better fit for me. The waistband on the XL goes up to 152cm, and the padded section is 112cm. However since that padded section is 16cm longer than my current waist, I wasn’t sure if it would be uncomfortable or feel bulky to have that much of the padding (16cm) overlapping? Also as far as I understand, having excess webbing makes back carrying more difficult? I was in between sizes for the H&P lark and their customer service suggested I get the short length instead of the long since I mentioned wanting to back carry with it.

Strap length is also a big of a concern with the regular size. I’d like to be able to tie the straps behind my back while front carrying, and it would be great to have enough length for some fancy finishes when back carrying as well. Since there is a 50cm difference in strap length between the regular and XL (200cm vs 250cm), I’m a bit worried that the straps on the XL might be too long?

Little Zen one doesn’t have an XL available for their try before you buy program :( I am on the waitlist for the regular size but it will be over 2 months before my turn

I am 5’7”, typically wear a size 14 or XL and have quite a large bust (36FF pre pregnancy, I have no idea what size I currently am while breastfeeding lol) in case that helps at all.

Hi everyone!

I am hoping to buy a Cairis half buckle carrier from Oscha to celebrate my first mother's day. I've read through their About our Fabrics page, but am still unsure which fabric composition would best suit me. I've signed up for the Try Before You Buy program through Little Zen One, but they only have one style/fabric available (the Realm of Middle-earth™ Ink which is 100% BCI Organic Combed Cotton).

Here are the styles that I'm leaning towards:

Style Composition Fabric Weight
Puffins Hirta 70% BCI Organic Combed Cotton, 30% Cotton Bouclé 289gsm
Puffins Arisaig 100% BCI Organic Cotton 304gsm
Starry Night Brew 74% BCI Organic Combed Cotton, 26% Bamboo Viscose 306gsm
Starry Night Ocean 67% BCI Organic Combed Cotton, 33% Fine European Wetspun Linen 244gsm
Okinami Kaio 58% BCI Organic Combed Cotton, 25% BCI Cotton, 17% Hemp 285gsm

I don't have any experience with woven wraps, so I can't really speak to any personal experience with different fabrics. I primarily use SSCs, but I do have a ring sling from Chimparoo that I liked a lot when my baby was a newborn. It's unfortunately too short/small for me so I don't use it much now that my baby is getting bigger (he's currently 3 months old). I have a longer length ring sling from Hope&Plum on the way though!

What I'm looking for with the Cairis:

  • Fabric that is relatively breathable, but doesn't need to be ultra lightweight. I live in the PNW so the climate is very moderate. I'd like to comfortably wear the carrier year-round
  • Supportive enough as my baby gets bigger/heavier. I tried on a half buckle from Heritage Baby Designs which is 100% linen and it felt too thin for my liking
  • Material that is soft and comfortable, but not slippery. I don't want to be constantly readjusting/retying the straps because the knots have loosened as I'm wearing the baby

Thanks in advance!
