Bit of silly rant here but I need to get this off my chest. Feminist hypocrisy when it comes to entertainment and other media needs to be called out.
I love Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Been a fan of it and it's probably my favorite media out there. However, criticisms from feminists have sparked my interest.
The criticism that the jokes made, especially involving the creepy master Roshi, are inappropriate is fair. Jokes about s*xual assault can be in poor taste and I can see why it's upsetting. However, one of the most popular criticisms that I find absolutely stupid and unfair is that there isn't enough female representation in fights and major conflicts in the show. Women are relegated to being mothers or scientists or being on the side in the show and feminists hate it. The reason why this criticism is so stupid is because the show's target audience is young boys and men. There's nothing wrong with having a target audience. It's going to have mainly male characters in important roles because it's catering to its target audience. It's the equivalent of me saying that Sailor Moon is misandrist because it doesn't have enough male representation. How are we going to be mad at Dragon Ball for not having enough female representation but then not be mad at media made for females that don't have male representation? So ridiculous.
