Service downgrade
Hello!
First off, some background: I’ve been an N26 user since 2015. When it was introduced in Austria, I signed up and used the account as a secondary account for a couple of years. Around 2020, I closed all my other bank accounts and have been using N26 as my primary (and only) account ever since.
I’ve had an overdraft facility with a maximum limit of €8,000 (which I rarely use — the highest overdraft fee I’ve paid in a quarter over the last 3–4 years was about €20). My loan eligibility in autumn 2025 was €15,000 (maximum), although I’ve never taken out a loan.
My financial behavior is very stable: no debt, no loans. My credit score is B (I´ve asked for it though CRIF 2 weeks ago). I also have a joint account with my wife (also with N26), and she uses N26 as her primary account as well.
Last month, without any prior warning, my overdraft was cancelled and my loan eligibility dropped to €0. After numerous emails and messages, the best explanation I received was essentially: “It’s an automated process, we don’t know why it happened, and we can’t manually override it.”
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? If yes, what reasons were given to you by the bank?
