This is my mother’s plant, so I might not be able to be very precise about how she takes care of it but this is all I know : she waters it when the soil is dry (and when she remembers to) with a glass of water and she doesn't check if the water is pourring out of the drainages holes (probably not with only one glass of water). Also, she had it for at least 5 or 6 years and has never repotted it! (I know, all of this is so bad)

For the light, she's near a south facing window and gets a lot of light. I also know she forgot to close the window one evening and it was a bit cold. After that, some leaf started yellowing (more than usual, because I think it's normal for older leaf to do that?)

It’s clearly not in the best shape, but it still produces new leaves (pic 4).

I’m a beginner in the plant world and don’t know much about this type of plant, but the long stems with the brown parts on them are what made me post here for help. From the pictures I’ve seen online, it doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to grow this long at all.

What does this plant need?

Thanks in advance!

Picture 6 is an online picture for reference. It's not this plant!

Hi!

This is my mother’s plant, so I might not be able to be very precise about how she takes care of it, especially because my mother is the kind of person people sometimes give plants to (for various occasions), and she basically just waters them and occasionally repots them.

As for this plant: she waters it when the soil is dry (and when she remembers to), and she has never repotted it. She’s had it for 5 or 6 years!

It’s clearly not in the best shape, but it still produces new leaves (pic 5).

From the pictures I’ve seen online, it doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to grow this long; it should look more like the sixth picture ?

What does this plant need? Tell me everything you know, I’d love to learn :) And can we propagate it? (If yes, how?)

Thanks in advance!

Edit : I'm not used to post on reddit at all and I see I got 3 upvote for this post. Does it means that "yes, my monstera is too deep in her soil" or it’s just random upvote ? Sorry about that question, just want to make sure I anderstand how things works here :)

Hi everyone! Hope you're doing well.

I was wondering if my monstera is too deep in her soil? I'm a bit confused because some stems seems too deep, and some not.

I know there is more than one monstera in this pot but it was my first plant and I didn't really feel confident enough to separate them when I first repoted them. They're look fine tho, so maybe it's not too much of a problem.

Also, she's currently giving me a new leaf so I'll tend to say that she's okay but I want to be sure and heard advice from people who knows way more things than me.

I think she's still young because of her size and full leaf? Also, I know that my tutor isn't tall enough and not in the right place, but I repot this plant about a mounth ago so I don't want to repot it again and risk too much stress.

I hope the pictures are good enough for you all to help me! :)

Ps : sorry about my english, it's not my first langage!

edit : Thanks everyone, I think I was just dramatic for nothing and it’s probably just a sign of hard water (strange because I only used a bit of hard water (2 glass) for a nematodes treatment, but it seems it’s enough even though I water my plants with rain water).

Hi everyone. Hope you're all doing well.

I just noticed those strange white spots on my monstera. They're come off very easily simply by passing my finger on them. What is it and what should I do?

Here somes informations :

I check my plants everyday and I noticed them last night. They're also on my pot (see pictures)

About light : my home isn’t bright enough but i have some growlight and all my plants seems happy and growing.

About watering : I always check the soil with a woodstick : if dry in depth, then I water profusely until it comes out under the pot. It’s about 1/1.5 week(or 2 at max) but since yesterday, because i started a treatment (nematodes) against thrips/fungus gnats, I need to keep the soil a little bit damp. I water my plants with rain water btw but I did used "normal" water (that is hard at my place) for the nematodes, but only a tiny bit!

About placement : She's next to other plants that don't have those white powder (yet)

I'm sorry for my english btw, it’s not my first langage.

Let me know if you have any questions !

Thanks in advance
