Okay, so I have this professor in my communications class that’s been wanting me to join the speech and debate team and the other day he called me up after class with another guy in my class saying we should join it next year. My teacher is a sarcastic guy and he was joking about hunting us down to join. He could tell I was a little uneasy about the idea and said that it’ll really be beneficial for me in the future and make myself competitive. I sent my boyfriend a screenshot of his comment on my speech after receiving full points saying that I need to join the speech and debate team and that I have no choice. He’s been talking about it since my first ever speech and I could tell he was being sarcastic and didn’t think much of it. However, my boyfriend got really mad saying that it’s super weird and how i’m justifying how weird he is. He’s saying how unprofessional it was but I mean most professors these days are pretty casual with their words and he’s a young professor maybe late 30s early 40s. My bf is saying how I just justify everything and let people treat me poorly because i give them the benefit of the doubt. i’ve been in this class for 2 months, he’s never pushed me to do it just recommended me. I can see how the wording makes it seem pretty weird and maybe I couldn’t really understand the message he was trying to get at. But I didn’t really see an issue. Now he’s mad, not wanting to talk, calling me a slur, and saying that’s how where I am in life because i let all these things slide. There was one occurrence in the past with a friend but this is my teacher so i’m not sure what to do
