[Unpaid/Revenue Share][Writer seeking artist] Spiritbound, completed 166-chapter manga concept, revenue share, JJK/Vinland Saga tone
SPIRITBOUND — Artist Collaboration Pitch
THE HOOK
Spiritbound is a completed 166-chapter manga concept about revenge, identity, and the cost of carrying other people's power. Think Jujutsu Kaisen's power system depth meets Vinland Saga's character arcs, action-driven but built entirely around what the fighting costs the people doing it.
THE CONCEPT
In modern Japan, people have discovered that by speaking the name of a warrior from the Age of Wonders (a civilization thousands of years ago) they can bind that person's spirit to themselves, borrowing their power. The catch: the spirit is constantly in your head and never stops fighting to take over your mind. One moment of weakness and it wins.
RIKU KAGURA is seventeen when his terminally ill sister secretly binds a spirit to heal herself and is immediately taken over by it. Riku storms the black market responsible, gets beaten badly, and is rescued by KAITO TACHIBANA, the most powerful person alive. Kaito recruits Riku into the Crucible, an organization hunting black market spirit traders.
What starts as Riku's personal revenge arc becomes something much larger, a global crisis, a war, a cycle of violence that swallows everyone he loves one by one, and a final confrontation with the immortal being responsible for all of it.
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
The power system has real teeth. Binding a spirit makes you stronger but it also puts a voice in your head that never stops trying to destroy you.
The characters are the story. The most compelling arc belongs to a side character who refuses to ever use the power system on principle, raises a child like a son, and lets that child kill him rather than fight back.
The ending is both happy and heartbreaking simultaneously. The protagonist wins and loses everyone. His last act is an act of revenge against the god who caused all of it, because that is simply who he is, and the story never pretends otherwise.
THE SCALE
- 166 chapters fully outlined, beat by beat
- Two-part structure — Part 1 ends with a big conflict and important deaths. Part 2, set 14-15 years later, deals with the consequences.
- Complete character arcs for 10+ named characters, each with distinct visual design, fighting style, and thematic purpose
- Detailed power system with internal logic and consistent rules
- Full character design sheets including height, build, face references, default outfits, and how each character moves in a fight
VISUAL IDENTITY
The story lives in the gap between quiet and explosive. Most chapters are conversation, training, grief and then a fight happens that recontextualizes everything before it. The art needs to handle both registers.
Tone references: Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, Berserk Character design references:
- Kaito — Similar build to Toji Fushiguro (JJK), 6'7", early 30s, brown curly hair with taper fade, amber eyes, the most physically imposing person in every scene
- Kai — Similar hair to Megumi Fushiguro (JJK) or Kai (Ninjago), 6'3", wiry athletic build, never uses powers, pure skill only
- Riku — 6'2", light brown wavy hair, green eyes, lean
- Daigo — 6'6", buzzed blonde hair, bodybuilder build, the largest person on the cast by a significant margin
- Sota — 5'8", black straight hair cut similar to that of Levi (AOT). Pretty average build. Not that big but far from fat.
THE OFFER
I am looking for a long-term creative partner, not a hired hand. Revenue share arrangement — all platform income split fairly. I have the complete story architecture, full chapter outlines, character sheets, power system documentation, and thematic notes. You bring the visual world to life.
This is a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end that has been developed in full. You would be illustrating something finished, not hoping a writer figures out where it's going.
