I thought it was hard for writers but it's hard for artists too. An artist will post "artist for hire" and I literally see zero engagement and it's a really skilled artist too.
An artist would post little snippets of their comics or art looking for feedback and it's a ghost town still.
Even worse for writers, writers post looking for feedback and it's zero.
An artist says they want to work for free to build their portfolio, no more than 8 or so writers engage ON A GOOD DAY (I am one of them).
A writer says they want to write for free, it's especially a ghost town.
The only posts here that get an engagement is if someone is looking to hire an artist, then you get 20 + comments. Nothing wrong with that ofc especially with money involved but at this point it's hard for artists and writers here if they don't have the "looking for artist paid" flair.
Heck I've answered the call of artists when they post the "looking for a writer unpaid" to build their portfolio. I've met some great guys, but with others, we chat, they seem excited to work with me then they ghost me. It's happened a good 7 times already and really only 2 artists haven't done that to me.
Maybe it's a bit of frustration here because people shit on writers a lot and have genuine criticisms but no one really brings up this issue when it comes to artists. I am thankful to the artists that have responded.
Is this what this sub has become? or maybe people drop dm's and just choose not to comment.
Artists, writers tell me man, is it rough in this sub for you?
Looking for a male writing buddy to co-write a brand-new comic universe with me called
\*\*Nexus Comics\*\*. Doing the plotting entirely by myself is getting overwhelming, so I want a partner to bounce ideas with, share the workload, and make creating fun again. Right now, I'm focusing strictly on our first 10-to-15 issue project or more: a tragic action-drama series about a massive war between two powerful characters who used to be best friends, blending heavy emotional stakes with expressive anime-style comedy flashbacks. If you love deep character arcs and want a true collaborative partnership where we protect each other's ideas, send me a DM!

This is a comic book page from a short story. Drawing , colors and story by me.
Hi! I'm looking for work as a colorist! Lately, I've been focusing on working as a comic book colorist. I love superhero comics with superpowers and all that, but I also know street art, like Daredevil. I'm trying to land my first solid clients. I've worked on other artists' artwork, like the DC Comics page for Batman and Superman vs. Metallo. My rates start at $30 per colored page, depending on the agreement we reach.

Hello!
My name is Niss and I am an experienced journalist, editor and copywriter. My usual clients are CIC's, charities and authors - but as someone who loves comics and is a big time collector of all kinds, I would love to work on editing within the comic world.
I have linked my LinkedIn below which demonstrates all the work I've done, most notably I have edited, proofread and copy-wrote my local city's Book Festival newsletter with over 3000+ subscribers.

I usually charge £15 per hour. I have a lot of availability at the moment as I search for more freelance projects to get my hands on, and I have no limitations NSFW wise.
Please consider me for your editing requirements, I have a lot of experience under my belt including transcription, administration and more - please let me know.
Thank you!
Currently looking for smaller scale projects at the moment. Reasonable prices and willing to work within a budget!
These pieces are created traditionally using pen and ink on paper + colors are added digitally in procreate.

Hi! I’m Roxy, a professional manga/comic artist available for paid comic projects.
I specialize in character-focused artwork, sequential pages, manga/webtoon style, fantasy and romance. I’m open to taking on a full project as the main artist, or joining an existing team as an assistant for lineart, flats, backgrounds, characters, or other production work.
I'm alright with doing both SFW and NSFW (romance related).

I've been working on a script for a long time now, and I want to put out a call for artists next month and start having my script turned into art. The problem is, I don't know what all I need to tell them. I've already described the scenes pretty much as I envision them, but how detailed do I need to be? I think some artists might want more details, while others prefer more artistic freedom. Do I just ask them? Do I also need to specify the dimensions of the page and the panel layout, or does the artist determine that? Oh, and is it a problem for the artist that I'm a beginner? I don't want to bother them.
This is only for people that don't use AI. Ultimately, people are leveling accusations of AI without any sort of investigation. This is part of the new world. I'm thankful that I wrote a couple things before the AI explosion and I have my work copyrighted. Any new work requires you to keep all your drafts for evidence. I'm working on a graphic novel and somebody already mentioned that my work looks like AI. I was offended for my artist, but this is the world we live in. I keep the progress of all the work. You can see the whole development of my project. Putting a no AI label is tacky and just draws more attention. My only stance on AI is that whoever uses it, should add a label, but I don't think that will happen.
If you like your sci-fi somewhere between Saga and Miyazaki, with a little Die Hard thrown in, come check out our weird little world.

The ceiling is the floor. The sky is trying to kill you. Nobody knows what happened. And people have to figure out how to keep living in this ridiculous new world.
We're making this strange, scrappy comic about sky pirates and flipped physics, but underneath all the weirdness, it's really about people trying to be brave when given a raw deal. It's a story about getting knocked sideways by a changing world, and finding a way to keep moving anyway. Think you can relate?
Hey everyone, I'm Freank, an Italian comic artist and illustrator.

My portfolio:
Hi! I'm an indie writer/filmmaker currently developing The Thirteenth Hour, a gothic horror story that I'm looking to adapt into a comic series, and I'm searching for an artist to help bring the project to life.
The story takes place in medieval Eastern Europe and follows two women whose lives become intertwined with the origins of a vampiric curse.
Visually, I'm looking for something dark and romantic. I particularly enjoy the style of graphic novels like Kill Shakespeare and others in that vein. I'm looking for clean comic artwork with expressive characters and ultimately strong environments, rather than something cartoony.
To start, I'd like to commission an artist to work with me on developing the characters that start off the series and illustrating the first page of the comic. This initial development will, of course, be paid.
My goal is to establish the characters and also get a sense of how we work together creatively.
If we're both happy, then I'd love to move forward with the same artist to complete the full 28-page first issue, with the potential to continue together on future issues as the series develops.
The script is written, and I have some general ideas on the layout, but open to collaborating with the artist to get everything in motion.
Summary:
Initial Commission:
2 x Character Sheets
1 x Sequential Comic Page
Color is preferred but open to discussing style/process.
Budget:
$100-120 USD per page (inks and colors) but open to discussion.
Happy to discuss a fair rate for the character sheets based on the artist's pricing.
Timeline:
Flexible. There's no immediate hard deadline, but I'd like to discuss availability and what a realistic timeline would look like for both the initial commission and, potentially, the full first issue.
**NOTE: THERE IS NO NSFW IN THIS, EVERYTHING IS SFW**
If you're interested, please drop your portfolio, rates and contact below! Sequential examples would be super helpful. I won't be responding to any DMs. Thanks!
