I recently read Tender is the Flesh. It was an amazingly disturbing book. I know it came out not too long ago, but it needs to be made into a horror movie. or some sort of limited series. Anybody read it? It was profoundly eerie. Does anybody have any book recommendations that provoke the same feeling? I don’t like gory stuff.
Unfortunately, this is now a reality. AI is so prevalent and has inundated our timeline. This is not a stance on AI. My biggest fear came to light when somebody mentioned that my graphic novel could possibly be done using AI. I feel like it a disservice to my artist and me. I spent a lot of money and he has spent a lot of time drawing my graphic novel. The rough thumbnails, the penciling, the line art are all in a Google Drive folder. That is something every artist and writer will need to do, I think. Keep receipts, just in case. Disregard the red lines, but I'm going to be placing a label on my front cover. Does it look tacky? Do you think this will be a norm in the future? Again, this is not an attack on AI. I'm just pointing out that no AI was used in the creation of my graphic novel.

Recently, I was approached by somebody and they mentioned they would love to make a manga version of my graphic novel by using AI tools. I said no because my work doesn't utilize AI. There really is no way of preventing people from uploading my graphic novel pages into an AI tool to create variations, huh? I spent a lot of money by hiring artists and feel like we are getting shafted. I'm merely trying to promote my work and it just sucks. I wish there was a tool that disallows images from being used...it gets flagged when you try to upload the image. I'm just an indie creator.

Birth of a New World is my graphic. It took years just to get to this point. I've quit half a dozen times. But I'm here. I made a lot of mistakes. I didn't properly study the medium before I jumped in. If you're going to start--start small. We all have these big imaginations, but it is not practical. I'm almost 200 pages down. I don't have a publisher. I'm running out of money. Trying to find an audience is difficult. I can barely get people to read my stuff and it is free (Part 1). I'm trying to find a publisher, but the market is tough. I don't know why I continue, but I continue. I believe in my story. I just don't know how to market my project.
To all the folks that want to create a comic, good luck. It is hard hill to climb. The fact that these projects even get made are little miracles. It takes so much work and money just to create a single page.

In the near-future Earth has been privatized into a single mega-corporation: earth inc. Winner Wright, the richest man in all of history, is the sole owner of Earth Inc. by way of deceit. He plans to “improve” humanity by eliminating anyone he deems as losers—those who are disabled, LGBTQ, elderly, or otherwise “not normal.” The only person who can stop him is his twin brother, Loser Wright, gifted with the power to give powers.
Under Earth Inc, the not normal citizens (mentally ill, disabled, LGBTQ, morbidly obese, elderly, etc.), will have to undergo a random verification process in order to receive benefits. During this “verification process” they are sedated and killed, then replaced by a copied version of them which is sent out into this brave new world.

Artists really amaze me! It is just something I could never do. Being able to take my words and convert them into an appealing image boggles my mind. I've spent so much on my IP, but I will never deny the quality of images. This process has been frustrating. Comics being created are such a minor miracle. They are expensive to make. The market is small, but people keep creating them.
Birth of New World doesn't use A.I. and I don't want any of my pages to be fed into an A.I. tool. I know that seems to be a big ask. I understand A.I. is undeniable, but my work was created for human consumption and made by a human, not some machine. Simple as that. If you use A.I. that is your prerogative, but it is imperative that you explicitly state this. Allow the consumer to make a decision.

There is no paid flair for social media manager or promotion. Creating a comic is hard enough, but promoting it is even harder. There are very few platforms. I've been using GlobalComix. Has anybody used a social media manager or promoter? Send recommendations if you have some. What is the point of spending all this money to create something if I can't drum up interest. Comic books are difficult to create because of how much work goes into them and how much money they cost. I've been grinding along on this graphic novel. It has been 5 years and I've only created 200 pages. I'm taking these little victories when they come. I'm still not done with this project, but the script is complete. I am indie creator and I am still looking for a publisher. Feel free to check out my work. To the new creators, good luck. It is doable, but it is not easy.
