Need help/advice

Hello everyone! I just graduated from a smaller private school in Iowa, and was on the pre-pt track for my last 2 years of college

When I got to college I had no interest in using my degree (kinesiology)—until I had a pretty bad health scare, that sort of showed me the amount of comfort a good physician could bring someone in one of the most fearful days of their life

I’m deciding to switch from DPT based on the fact that I have a fear that the career becomes stale after practicing for a couple of years, the settings that I experienced while shadowing seemed sort of bland and unenthusiastic (most of the time), and I fear that after practicing for a while—I’ll have wished I took the steps to go to medical school to have a wider scope within the specialty I choose (PM&R seems to go hand and hand, and is more what i’m looking for in a lifelong career)

Because of my late decision to lock in, my cGPA at graduating is a 3.25. I don’t know my sGPA, however I got a C in gen chem 2, and B’s in most of the other science classes i’ve taken besides anatomy (A) and Exercise physiology (A). I don’t believe this is because of a lack of intelligence, rather a circumstance of unrefined study techniques. I talked to my Human physiology prof about this after i received a B+ average in chapter exams and a 95% on the cumulative final, and she agreed with that sentiment, as the final for physiology is historically very difficult at my school

What I want to know is this. I have to take both physics, both ochem, and biochem still—along with retaking a bio class that i took freshman year

  1. Is medical school still doable for the stats I have? Am I able to come back? CCOM is required to have 80% of students be from Iowa, I have a bunch of connections within the UIowa system (very close with ortho surgeon), and my grades from my last 2 semesters are showing an upward trend in upper level kinesiology classes (biomechanics, exercise phys)
  2. How should I go about the last few prereqs i have? Local community college, the undergrad program i was at, or try to take them at the state school? I’ve heard its not good to take classes at community colleges, but it’d be the most cost efficient
  3. Just any general advice about the process of coming back. Pursuing medicine has been all i’ve been able to think about for the past 2 years, and Im afraid that if i never take the chance i’ll regret it for the rest of my life

Thanks guys! Hope some of you can help me out
