Has anyone else's Tesla started asking to switch to the "Latin America" map region
First time I've ever seen this prompt and I can't find anyone reporting the same thing anywhere online — figured it's worth asking the community.
Quick context: 2020 Model 3 SR+ (HW3, MCU Intel), originally a US car, now in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Got the firmware update today (FSD Supervised v12.6.4) and right after the install finished, the car popped up:
> *Navigation data update required. A discrepancy has been detected. North America region data is installed but Latin America region data is required for your current location. Wi-Fi connected. Waiting for the server to start the download.*
It's been sitting on "waiting for server" for hours on a strong Wi-Fi connection. I'm guessing Tesla detected the geofence (my actual location vs. the NA region on the car) and now wants to swap the map — but the server isn't authorizing it because my VIN is registered as NA market.
Tesla added the LATAM map region back in early 2024 to support the Chile/Colombia/Mexico expansion, but I haven't seen anyone report that the car actively prompts you to switch to it. Usually imported Teslas just silently have broken navigation forever.
So:
**Anyone in Mexico/Chile/Colombia** with an official Tesla — does your car show LATAM as the map region, and does this popup look familiar?
**Anyone with an imported Tesla in the Caribbean or Central America** seeing this same message after the latest update?
If you did the swap, did anything change/break — language, POIs, supercharger routing, FSD behavior?
Not urgent on my end since I mostly use Waze on phone anyway, but curious if I'm the first one or if this is going to start hitting a lot of imported cars in LATAM this week. Will drop the screenshot in the comments.
