I have a PS2 phat. Model SCPH-30004 specifically. It runs all games (PS1 & PS2) perfectly fine, however I have trouble with audio CDs and DVD movies.

I can play single layer/DVD-5 movies just fine, like my Pokémon Chronicles DVD. However, if I try a different DVD like Jurassic Park or Into the Spiderverse (which I believe are dual layer/DVD-9), I get a disc read error after attempting. I'm also unable to get into the parental controls, as the master reset passwords don't work on it.

It's definitely not a region issue, I have a PAL PS2 and I am trying to play PAL DVDs on it and my Pokémon DVD worked just fine on it.

What's the issue here? Do I need to open it up and adjust the pentiometer perhaps? Suggest any ideas.
