Hey everyone,
I ran into a bit of an issue on my Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and wanted to get some opinions before I move forward.
I’ve got one stripped bolt hole on my clutch cover (just one of them), and I’m also dealing with a stripped bolt on the oil filter casing. From what I can tell:
- Clutch cover bolt = M6
- Oil filter casing bolt = M5
My plan right now is to repair both using helicoils rather than trying to retap oversized or replace parts.
A few questions:
- Is using helicoils in these locations generally recommended on the 701SM?
- Any concerns with durability, especially with heat cycles and vibration?
- Anything I should watch out for during install (depth, alignment, sealing, etc.)?
- Would you trust this as a long-term fix or just temporary?
For context, this is a track-ridden bike, so I want something reliable and not something that’s going to fail mid-day.
