Thoughts on post pre-med options
I am going to try and make this simple.
I am graduating from college (uga) this spring/summer, (summer will be online) with an exercise science degree.
I have 3.7 gpa and have completed all prerequisites (and shadowed) to apply to Anesthesiologist assistant school.
This would be a great career but I have been quite burnt out and really want time to focus on other things, at least give some things my "best shot" before I seal myself behind a demanding career and debt. (I have no debt rn)
I certainly don't mind working 40 hrs a week, though, but iykyk grad school in the medical fields are a all-consuming type thing (from what i have heard) and I have felt that way the past 4 years doing pre-med. So I wanna take a break and have to take a gap year anyway.
I have looked at and applied to lots of jobs, but am having a hard time even getting a medical assistant job. If I found a different job or career path I would totally be cool to change gears, especially if I could use my science background or get into natural resources or something cool. I have 2 years of chem, and also physics, bio, etc.
I also am good with my hands and have done carpentry, woodworking, worked in customer service, and am a great guitar player (random ik)
Idk if you know of anything cool in the southeast or Georgia that seems like a good gap year thing or just have some thoughts that would be appreciated.
I could get my medical assistant cert but thats 2k, for a job that doesnt pay well, emt is kinda the same thing, but Im having a hard time getting like any job in healthcare. I want to work in healthcare, especially if I apply to school bc I dont want to get into anything I don't have daily experience with. But if another path came along and I could get into something else I enjoy and make decent money I would be open to it.
