BenQ silently removed KVM from the RD240Q
Last week, I purchased a BenQ RD240Q monitor from Amazon.com.tr for 17,000 TL. My primary reason for choosing this specific model was its advertised KVM feature, which I needed to use my laptop and desktop with a single keyboard and mouse. The Amazon product page clearly listed KVM support.
The product arrived today. After unboxing and setting it up, I thoroughly checked the OSD menu and the Display Pilot 2 software; there is no option or menu related to KVM anywhere. I then did some research to see if I was mistaken, and honestly, what I found is quite disappointing.
I discovered that in 2024, BenQ promoted the RD series with "default KVM" functionality. Their official press releases explicitly state: "RD Series also features default KVM (keyboard, video, mouse)." This information is available across BenQ UK, BenQ Asia-Pacific, and PRWeb. Based on these official claims, tech outlets like T3 India and MySmartPrice explicitly mentioned that the RD240Q is "equipped with a KVM switch" or "sports a KVM switch."
Consequently, despite BenQ’s official communication and the subsequent coverage by tech websites confirming the RD240Q has a KVM switch, the unit I received does not have this feature. To me, this represents misleading advertising and a silent removal of features.
I am requesting that BenQ provide a version of the RD240Q that actually includes the KVM feature as advertised, and I demand a clear, official, and public statement regarding the KVM capability of this model. Furthermore, if they are selling a version without KVM, they must update their old press releases and marketing materials immediately so that other consumers are not misled.
