(EX2710R) Panel is not working one day after warranty period ended.

Hi guys I wanted to let you know be careful when you buy BenQ monitor.

I bought EX2710R on May 8 2023 with 30k for PS5 and in May 9 2026 it stopped working when contacted with support they are saying it’s out of warranty and they can’t do anything about it not when asked about this quality issue they repeat the same warranty.

Believing the quality of BenQ I even bought EW270Q now I am wondering should I sell it or not.
I wrote a lengthy mail explaining this issue to the support hoping they will give any positive reply and based on this I will decide what to do with my other monitor.(update got the reply and Same response it’s out of warranty )
Did anything similar happen to guys ?

Desk setup upgrade - the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2.

Comparison of BenQ Screenbar Halo 1 and 2 -
https://imgur.com/a/RG8niiS

When I first setup my home office, I purchased the first BenQ ScreenBar Halo and quite frankly it was the item that made the most impact to the overall space.

Fast forward to just this past week, I upgraded from my BenQ ScreenBar Halo to the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 and I was so surprised by the difference! It even sits on top of my 57" Samsung Neo G9 a bit better than the first iteration does, as the rubber feet are better quality.

At 100% I was blown away how bright it was, it illuminates everything. The fidelity of the light even seems better. My favorite temperature is 2700k as I prefer warmer light tones throughout my house. During the day and for typical office work, I keep it on the brighter side. I sometimes even enable auto mode, as my office only has one window so not a whole lot of light enters the room from the outside. At night, when gaming or just browsing, I prefer to keep the downward facing light around 25% (sometimes lower) and the back facing light around 50%. I like to have the back light a little brighter than the downward facing light.

As far as new features go, my favorite is the motion sensor. With the first one, I would always turn it off when leaving my office or when I was done for the night, but now if you turn the setting on, it will turn off when it doesn't sense an activity for a period of time. When I come back in and sit down, it automatically turns back on and it feels SO slick! The upgrades they made to the control puck are amazing too. Everything is so much better with the digital readouts so you can really fine tune your preffered lighting.

I absolutely recommend the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 (even if you have a first gen) to anyone looking to elevate your setup to the next level. If you're on the fence you absolutely will not regret it. Every setup needs this, it's a real game changer.

Disappointed with the BenQ RD280UG

Just got the BenQ RD280UG and I have mixed feelings about it.

The 120Hz refresh rate is genuinely great, everything feels super smooth and responsive. But outside of that, I honestly expected a lot more considering the price and the hype around it.

Compared to my old Huawei MateView 28”, the brightness on the BenQ feels surprisingly underwhelming. I keep trying to tweak the settings, but it feels like if I lower the contrast to get a more balanced image, I then can’t push the brightness enough to compensate. The overall picture just lacks the punch I was expecting.

What’s frustrating is that my older MateView actually looks better to me in a lot of situations, which I really wasn’t expecting from a newer “premium” monitor.

Also, this thing is absurdly heavy compared to the MateView.

Curious if anyone else here has had the same experience with the RD280U, or if there are settings I’m missing before I decide whether to keep it or return it.

BenQ MA270S compatibility with Windows?

Hi, can anyone confirm whether the BenQ MA270S works smoothly with Windows as well?
I know it’s marketed a lot for MacBook users, but I’d like to use it mainly on a Windows PC. Any issues with scaling, colors, refresh rate, USB-C features, or general compatibility? Thanks!

PSA: Avoid the BenQ EW270Q – Severe QC Issues, Dead Pixels, and Panel Gaps

Hey everyone,

I’m posting this as a warning for anyone considering buying the BenQ EW270Q. I’ve been dealing with an incredibly frustrating experience with their quality control, and I strongly recommend avoiding this model altogether.

Here is a breakdown of what I’ve been dealing with:

Multiple Black Dots / Dead Pixels / dust under panel:

I just received my second monitor, and both units have had severe pixel/panel issues.

- The first monitor had 4 noticeable black dots out of the box. I returned it, reordered a replacement,

- and the second one is even worse—it has 5 black dots. (See attached images for wide and close-up views of the dots relative to the mouse pointer).

Terrible Build Quality (Panel Gaps): Both units suffer from massive panel gaps along the sides. With gaps this wide, it feels inevitable that more dust will get trapped behind the screen or the panel will degrade further over time.

Out of Pocket Losses: Because of their complete lack of quality control, I’ve already taken a Rs100 and 2 days of time loss just trying to get a working product.

I’ve reached out to BenQ support to demand immediate assistance and to get in writing whether their warranty will even cover these dots if they grow or multiply (which seems likely given the panel gaps).

Until they fix these glaring manufacturing defects, save your money and your time.

Do not buy this monitor. Has anyone else experienced this with BenQ recently?

TL;DR: Ordered two separate BenQ [Insert Model Name] monitors. Both had multiple dead pixels/black dots (4 on the first, 5 on the second) and massive panel gaps. Lost $100 in the process. Avoid this monitor.

MA270S vs MA270UP - Worth double the price?

Hey guys,

currently searching for a 27" monitor mainly for my MacBook (but also want it to use for my Windows Laptop I need to use for my main job). Came across the Mac lineup of BenQs monitors, but not sure which one to pick.

MA270S seems to be a perfect choice with higher refresh rate and 5k, however it is about double the price here compared to a MA270UP. For those having the chance to try both: Do you think it's worth it?

I am mainly using it for software development, but also some design tasks and usual office stuff like browsing internet or working on documents.

Thanks a lot!

Bug Report - Display Pilot 2 - v1.112.0.0 - Display Pilot 2 causes macOS menu bar to disappear and internal display to become unrecoverable

Hardware:

  • MacBook Pro (Mac17,2), Apple M5, 16 GB RAM
  • macOS 26.2 (Build 25C56)
  • Display Pilot 2 (latest version)

Display configuration:

  • Built-in Liquid Retina XDR Display (3024×1964) — internal display
  • BenQ MA320U (5120×2880, UI: 2560×1440) — primary/main external display
  • Dell U2719D (1440×2560, portrait) — secondary external display

Bug description:

When Display Pilot 2 puts the internal MacBook display to sleep, it causes two severe and unrecoverable side effects:

1. Internal display cannot be woken without a full session reset

After Display Pilot 2 sleeps the internal display, no standard macOS wake mechanism recovers it. Confirmed failed approaches include:

  • Mouse/keyboard input
  • caffeinate -u (user activity assertion)
  • Writing IORequestIdle = false to IODisplayWrangler via IOKit (both as user and as root via sudo)
  • Opening System Settings > Displays
  • Closing and reopening the MacBook lid
  • Force-quitting Display Pilot 2

The display remains stuck in Display Asleep: Yes state (confirmed via system_profiler SPDisplaysDataType and CGDisplayIsAsleep() via CoreGraphics) until a full system restart or WindowServer reset.

2. macOS menu bar disappears from all external displays

When the internal display is put to sleep by Display Pilot 2, macOS corrupts the display coordinate space for the BenQ (the main/primary display). The WindowServer Menubar window is repositioned to Y=-30, Height=30 — 30 pixels above the physical top edge of the BenQ display — making it completely invisible. This was confirmed by inspecting the window list via CGWindowListCopyWindowInfo.

The BenQ's visible display area starts at Y=0, so the menu bar is rendered entirely off-screen. The menu bar process (SystemUIServer) continues running normally — the issue is the window coordinates, not the process.

Attempted recovery steps that failed:

  • killall SystemUIServer (restarts the menu bar process — menu bar reappears at same off-screen position)
  • killall Dock
  • Activating Finder to shift menu bar focus
  • Swapping the main display assignment between BenQ and Dell and back (via CGBeginDisplayConfiguration / CGCompleteDisplayConfiguration)

Root cause hypothesis:

Display Pilot 2 appears to put the internal display to sleep using a private macOS API that sets a persistent display power state. When the internal display (which has a notch) goes to sleep while an external display is set as primary, macOS fails to recalculate the display coordinate geometry for the external display. The menu bar coordinate space retains an offset corresponding to the MacBook's notch geometry (30px), placing it above the visible area of the notch-free external display.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect a MacBook Pro (M-series, with notch) to one or more external displays
  2. Set an external display as the primary/main display
  3. Allow Display Pilot 2 to sleep the internal display (or trigger it manually)
  4. Observe that the internal display cannot be woken and the menu bar vanishes from the primary external display

Recovery:

The only reliable recovery is:

sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.displays.plist
sudo killall -KILL WindowServer

This deletes the persisted corrupted display layout and restarts the WindowServer, forcing macOS to rebuild the display configuration from scratch. A full system restart also works.

Expected behavior: Display Pilot 2 should either (a) not put the internal display into a sleep state that macOS cannot recover from without a session reset, or (b) restore the internal display to an active state when Display Pilot 2 is quit.

Impact: This issue requires a destructive session reset to recover from, causing loss of all open window positions and requiring applications to be relaunched. It has occurred repeatedly across multiple days of normal use.

Upgraded to the BenQ Screenbar Halo 2

I’m a Sales Engineer and I require equipment that will help me get through the day, whether it’s presentations, deep work, or reading. That’s why I initially purchased the BenQ Screenbar Halo a few years back.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to check out the Screenbar Halo 2 and I definitely have noticed improvements of its previous iteration.

Upon initial use I noticed that the control puck was USB-C powered instead of using AAA batteries which was an improvement.  When putting this on my primary monitor. (I have a dual monitor setup) I noticed that BenQ improved the clamp you used to put the light on top the monitor.

One click and BOOM!  The light comes on and illuminates a wider field of view that its predecessor which was much appreciated.  The backlight of this model was also improved illuminating more bias light.  Even though I use Philips Hue lights for additional backlighting, the additional lighting was needed.

Like the original Screenbar Halo, there's no monitor glare. The Halo 2 can be plugged into its own USB-C adapter or into your monitor, but if you do the later it may not guarantee full power to the unit so I opted for the adapter. I would also like to mention that the Halo 2 is cool to the touch so no heating compared to the first one.

For one, the controls offer more granularity in terms of how you can control the primary light and the backlight.  Just like the previous model, you can select between 2700 - 6500K, but even at 1% illumination it offers amazing light.  The previous model didn’t let you go that low.  Turning off all the other lights and cranking this at 2700K and setting it at 15% gives me a cozy setup for when I want to go down a Reddit rabbit hole or if I want to watch a few YouTube videos.

At night time when I’m doing something at the computer I keep it around 60 - 70% at 2700K

I really like the motion detector.  It not only is a “green” option as in energy saving, it makes me feel like my workstation is coming alive with me as I walk in and the light comes on.

Having a Screenbar light was a major improvement in my setup in reducing eye strain, being able to comfortably stay at my desk for hours on end, and an overall better workstation experience. Having the Screenbar Halo 2 takes it to another level and it has definitely found a permanent home in my collection.

2x Halo 2's with 1 remote?

I have two 32" monitors, each with a Quantis monitor light. I'm looking to upgrade. They help at night, but could be better.

The only thing holding me back is that the two lights are controlled by a single remote. I'm seeing conflicting information online, but can two of the Halo 2 lights be controlled and synced to a single remote?

Projector causing ground loop

Apologize if you've already read a post about this. I deleted my old posts as while I was troubleshooting i operated on a few false assumptions that I dont want to be misinformation or influence anyone about the products I am using.

I recently added an Amp to my audio system. With the amp, I get a light constant buzz of a ground loop in my main channels (the ones the Amp drives).

My troubleshooting steps, so far:

Moving the amp to another room. (No buzz)

Also moving the AVR to that room (no buzz)

Significantly Improving my rack cable management.

Testing them in the home theater with all other equipment unplugged from the AVR and power (no buzz)

I added things back in one at a time, and realized the buzz happens only when the projector is on and displaying an image. Unplugging the HDMI from my AVR to the Projector makes the buzz go away.

I connected my avr to a monitor to see if it always happens when the HDMI output is active (no buzz)

I connected that same cable to my projector (buzz returns)

Connected my projector to a new power cable (buzz returns)

Connected projector to a different outlet. This may have made it a little worse, but im not certain.

So where Im at, Im certain my projector is making my new Amp buzz; but im obviously not going to throw my projector away, I want to keep the Amp, and I wont just tolerate the buzz. Do I have any options?

The equipment list:

BenQ HT4550i

Onkyo Tx-RZ30

Emotiva BasX A3

Klipsch RP 6000fii, 504c ii, 1200sw, SF-2 as surrounds

Pannamax MR4300 power conditioners

BenQ India replaced my monitor under warranty and somehow made it worse. Support keeps gaslighting me about it.

I honestly don’t know what else I’m supposed to do at this point.

I bought a BenQ GW2790Q in November 2025 from Amazon India for around ₹15k. For the first few months it was completely fine. Then in April 2026, a green vertical line appeared on the display.

BenQ approved the warranty claim and their service partner (F1 Info Solutions) replaced the panel on April 18th.

That should’ve been the end of the story.

Instead, within less than 10 days, the replacement panel itself started showing:

  • very noticeable backlight glow/bleed in top right corner
  • weird squeaking/cracking sound whenever the monitor is lightly handled or adjusted.

And before someone says “IPS glow is normal”, yes, I know IPS panels have glow. I’m not new to monitors.

The problem is: THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING ON MY ORIGINAL PANEL.

Same room. Same lighting. Same desk. Same viewing angle. Same usage.

The only thing that changed was the replacement panel BenQ installed.

What’s even more frustrating is how support handled it.

The engineer visited again on May 8th. When I demonstrated the squeaking issue, his literal response was "I don’t know why.”, That was it.

Then BenQ support started repeatedly copy-pasting explanations about “IPS glow” and telling me to use ambient lighting, avoid dark environments, etc.

I’m sorry, but why should I have to change the way I use my monitor because of a replacement panel THEY installed?

Should I stop using dark mode now? Stop watching darker content? Only use bright white websites and RGB color screens forever?

Even with room lights ON, the glow is still visible during normal usage on Reddit/GitHub dark mode. I’ve attached those images too in my mails, because they kept acting like I was only testing in a pitch-black room with synthetic software.

And the most ridiculous part: they STILL haven’t properly acknowledged the physical squeaking/cracking issue in any meaningful way, despite me sending video proof multiple times. here's the link for that google drive

At this point it honestly feels less like support and more like they’re trying to exhaust me until I give up.

I’ve already filed a National Consumer Helpline complaint in India because normal support channels have gone nowhere.

I genuinely just wanted my monitor fixed. Instead this whole thing has turned into one of the worst warranty/service experiences I’ve dealt with.

Is this massive light leak normal after a service? Shop broke my BenQ W1070 and says it’s "fine". Need advice!

Hey everyone, I need some second opinions on a repair job before I go back and demand compensation.

I have a BenQ W1070 that I’m setting up for a pitch-black home theater room. I took it to a highly-rated, 5-star local projector repair shop for a standard service to clean out some dust blobs.

When I got it back and tested it, the projector was in way worse shape:

  • Massive Light Spill Outside the Frame : There is now a huge, bright white halo/cast shooting way outside the actual projected image and bleeding heavily onto my ceiling and surrounding walls. It completely ruins the contrast in a dark room.
  • Light Leak from the vents: There is a harsh, structured beam of raw light shooting straight out of the side cooling vents onto my wall.
  • Broken Chassis: The tech broke a plastic clip on the cover, so the casing now wiggles and isn't flush.
  • Worse Dust & Smudges: The screen now looks like a snowstorm (way more dust blobs than before).

I took it back to the shop, and the technician was incredibly dismissive. He tried to stuff a random piece of sponge in the side to block the light, said a "black sponge must have ripped,". It didn't make any difference. and is now insisting that this massive light bleed is completely normal for DLP projectors.

I’ve attached the before and after pictures for reference.

For those of you who own a W1070 or do projector repairs:

  1. Is this level of unbaffled light leak normal in any way?
  2. Considering this is for a dark home theater room and the chassis is physically broken, is it acceptable work?
  3. Should I be demanding compensation for the projector at this point since he clearly did something wrong and broke the casing infront of me?

Any advice on how to handle this shop would be hugely appreciated!

Benq ew270q QC issue ? I think these are dead pixels.Should i Replace ?

There are two dead pixels / dust inside panel in the bottom left corner . And two dots in the top right region pretty close by. The screen bleeding looks avg. QC issue ? Should I replace ?

Also few things I get hdr only in hdmi mode in my laptop which is connected through rtx3050 while with type c which is connected with amd i don't get hdr in YouTube .

200hz 10 bit is limited to type c but no hdr.

With hdmi at 59hz i get 10 bit hdr but anything after that is 8 bit.

Buy RD280UG or PD3226G

Which one for productivity? I work as a sw dev. 280ug is still not available in my country and not sure if 3:2 is worth, when scaling is needed. Size with PD is comparable and probably no scaling needed on PD. Downside is the price - 1000€

I’m beyond frustrated right now. My Benq GW2490 monitor just went black again right after a brief power outage. The power LED is still on, but the screen is not turning on.

This is the exact same thing that happened just after 3 months of purchase, in 2024.

Last time they repaired it under warranty (took almost a month) , and after that I got an 8 socket Belkin surge protector to plug in the monitor, laptop adapter etc. I can’t believe a monitor from such a reputed brand like benq died twice from a simple power cut when my tv, 5 year old laptop (that's always plugged in) etc are fine.

Has anyone else dealt with this model being super sensitive to power outages? Is the internal PSU just garbage? I’m still under warranty but I’m tired of shipping this thing back and forth. Called benq customer care & registered a complaint & awaiting the service center's call. It's still covered in warranty, but this will most probably take another month to repair. Never gonna buy benq again!

I have a Benq SW272Q monitor which I use for color grading videos. I noticed very strange magenta tint spread out from the four borders of the monitor. It is very visible only when I either have a white background or something bright on the screen.

I called the support and an engineer came from their end to look at what the issue was, he acknowledged the problem and sent a report right away.

The team that is supposed to take action to address the issue is blatantly refusing any kind of help by simply stating that my monitor is perfectly functional and they will not do anything about it. This is regardless of the report that was sent to them along with a video taken by the engineer who came to inspect the monitor.

Now he is not receiving my calls. My monitor is within warranty and Benq officials refuses to honor it.

This just creates a bad impression about the company and the problems faced by an end comsumer.
