Adjusting culture! Instamart delivery guy refused to come up even 1 floor at grandparents house.

This happened in Pune. I ordered some stuff on Instamart for my grandparents, who live on the 1st floor of a small standalone building (no lift). I'd clearly mentioned "1st floor" in the address. I wasn't there myself and only my grandparents were home, so I politely asked the delivery guy to come up to the 1st floor.

His reply: "We don't deliver on any floor, you'll have to come down and collect it." No reason, nothing. Man, it was literally one floor. And the hub is barely 400m from the house, so all he had to do was ride 400m.

I contacted customer care, and even they said delivering up to the 2nd floor without a lift is completely reasonable. They assured me they'd take strict action against him.

Honestly, I don't mind going down a floor to collect an order, I've done it plenty of times. But this time I wasn't even there, I was ordering for my grandparents. And the way he said it, so confidently, you could tell he's made a lot of people come downstairs before.

Feels like our "adjust kar lo" culture is taking a new shape. There has to be a limit. 4th or 5th floor without a lift, okay, I get it. But refusing the 1st or 2nd floor? That's too much. Then what's the point of promising doorstep delivery?

And if climbing 1-2 floors across multiple deliveries is genuinely too much, then maybe this isn't the right job. Every job is hard in its own way. Ask the guy frying his brain in front of a screen all day.

Anyone else noticing this lately, or is it just me?

Also please stop going downstairs for 1st or 2nd floor deliveries and put an end to this too empathetic culture.
