I am doing a theater production, and I am in charge of the sound effects and music. There is a scene where the script says "the music and [sound effect] come to a crescendo as the houselights go out."

I have been using the end of "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Saëns, but my director thinks its too long of a build up (this is at the beginning of the play, and she doesn't trust the general audience to not talk over it, as the lights are still up.)

I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of dramatic crescendos, that, ideally, can be easily clipped from their song.
