CBR600RR 2005 track -> street legal

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2005 Honda CBR600RR that has mainly been used as a track bike and wanted to hear your thoughts/experiences with these bikes.

The bike:

  • 2005 CBR600RR
  • Around 12,000 km / 7,500 miles
  • Street registered (not a salvage/crushed frame)
  • Previous owner used it mostly for track riding
  • Öhlins front springs + upgraded rear shock
  • Race fairings
  • Cleaned/race-prepped wiring setup
  • Comes with a LOT of spare parts and extras (5 boxes + original blue body)

The bike starts perfectly, sounds healthy, shifts well and feels mechanically solid overall.

It has some cosmetic crash damage/scratches from being laid down on track, but nothing that seems major structurally.

One thing I’m considering:
I might actually convert it back into a street legal bike again eventually:

  • reinstall full wiring harness (PRICE OF THIS ? )
  • quickshifter
  • lights/signals
  • etc.

So I’m curious:

  • How reliable are these 05 CBR600RRs long term?
  • Anything specific I should watch out for?
  • Has anyone converted a track-prepped 600RR back to street use?
  • Was it a nightmare or fairly straightforward?
  • Do you guys think this sounds like a decent buy for ~$3.4k USD?

Also included a picture of some of the spare parts that came with it.

Would love to hear your experiences with these bikes.
