I recently bought a CDP brand UPS, model R-UPR1008, 1000VA 500W, because my power supply unit (PSU) is 500W. I also have an inverter (not a pure sine wave inverter). I bought the UPS to prevent my PC from shutting down due to the inverter's latency.
The problem is that every time the power goes out and the inverter kicks in, the UPS starts flashing and beeping very frequently. It seems to sense that the inverter's power is very unstable. Besides that, it seems to be drawing a lot of power from the inverter because the house lights start flashing in sync with the UPS. So, I have to unplug the UPS to turn off my PC. Lately, I've been plugging the PC into the surge protector, and I don't see the point of the investment if that's the case. I previously had a UPS with a lower VA rating, and the inverter handled it perfectly.
Should I replace it with a smaller UPS, or is the problem with my inverter?
