I think these are termites....since this was in the backyard thr backyard so I need to worry or should I get rid of all the wood

I installed 2 years ago..noticed today that it is leaking from the hot water outlet. Attempted to tighten nut but still leaking.

I assume I need to completely remove the fitting and retape and then wrench it back on??? Do I need to release the pressure from the pressure valve and does the main water need to be shut off before removing.
