Why didn't the band update the lights/visuals for Deftones arena shows?
Huge fan of both bands but I'm confused as to why the production team did not program something more suitable for the venues on this Australian tour of large arenas. Very dark and almost repetitive lighting design, and the band was just backlit most of the time. See linked video below for reference. I saw a photo from one of the other sets (Brisbane I think?) and it looks like they added a projection with the band logo but no dynamic visuals, so not a huge improvement. OTOH, Deftones puts a lot of thought into creating beautiful cinematic visuals that transition for different songs and totally elevate the experience.
Is this a cost issue or is it due to something in their agreement as openers? Seems like they're not putting their best foot forward for a show at this scale.
