Need Hope

I went off 0.5 mg of klonopin ct a few months ago. Obviously, it didn’t go well. The insomnia, anxiety, and cognitive impairment were unreal.

I’ve reinstated klonopin at 0.75 mg as that’s what seems to be helping the sleep. I’ll still get breakthrough anxiety sometimes.

I plan to stabilize for awhile, then do a slow, controlled taper more in accordance with current guidelines.

Does anyone have any good experiences with slow tapers where you came out better and healthier on the other side? I’m terrified and need to hang on to hope.

Benzos are ruining my marriage

I discontinued 0.5 mg of klonopin a few months ago ct because my husband wanted me off.

Long story short, I believe I quit too fast as anxiety and insomnia were spiraling out of control. I was considering checking myself into inpatient psychiatric care before my doctor reinstated klonopin at 1 mg (this is the amount it’s taken to get me to sleep).

I now plan to stabilize sleep for awhile and then begin a much slower controlled taper.

I’m afraid my husband won’t tolerate the amount of time it will truly take to safely taper off. I really need his support but he’s said if I don’t get off the benzos he’s out the door.

My family & friends act like my insomnia is a joke.

I want to tell them imagine you have 2 choices. 1) You go on zero sleep or maybe 2-3 hours if you’re lucky and wait until the psychosis sets in and you have to go to the hospital.

Or 2) You find a sleeping drug that actually works, but you’re still not getting anything close to 8 hours. Instead it buys you 4-6 hours of broken, horrible sleep and then you’re left to deal with the sickening hangover side effects from it just so you can get a couple more hours sleep than you would have without it.

…..and that’s it….that’s your life.
