I am about to transfer schools but I want to switch the major I applied with

I just finished my freshman year and am switching schools for next semester. I applied as an accounting major but due to many reasons I want to switch to mechanical engineering. I haven’t picked classes yet and I dont know if I should pick classes that apply to engineering. I dont know my advisor yet so is this something Im allowed to do?

My ex 18F broke up with me 18M towards the end of January because of long distance. We became friends in junior year of high school and were really close with each other for pretty much the rest of high school. She was my best friend, and we related super well with each other, but we ended up going to two different colleges about 4 hours away from each other. We still called all the time, and that was when I started to gain feelings for her. I was the only friend from home who would visit her, and eventually, we got really close, and we started dating. Everything felt perfect, like everything that we had been through with each other had led up to that moment. But then, after 2 months, she broke up with me because she couldn't handle the long distance, and she didn't want it interfering with her studies. In my mind, I was confused because I still visited her pretty often, but the last thing I want is for her not to succeed because of me. She is in the pre-med program, so I get that she has an insane amount of schoolwork and studying she needs to do. I haven't spoken to her since then, and my feelings for her haven't gone away. I feel like our relationship ended before it even started, and that I got no real closure with her. I really want to reach out to her now that the semester is over, but I don't know if that's unfair of me to try to talk to her again and try to reconnect with her. How do I go about reaching out to her again?
