Hi everyone, I set up a diy golf cage in my garden. I have a golf mat, the type you get at ranges, but my lawn is anything but flat!

I really want to avoid building a full on patio underneath, with proper foundation and pavers.

Could I get away with just taking out 2 or 3 inches of lawn then compacting crushed stone topped with a thin layer of sand to smooth out bumps? Or are my feet like to cause it to sink in?
