Spironolactone and Birth Control for Hormonal Acne
I have been on 100mg of Spironolactone for almost 6 weeks, and I have been on Nikki birth control for two months. I have been on accutane twice in the past, in 2018, and then again in 2020 into 2021. After that, I had minimal problems with breakouts up until January 2026, where I started breaking out pretty severely on my cheeks, temples, chin, and around my mouth. It is really frustrating considering my history of acne medications, and I am wondering if anyone uses this birth control + spiro combo, if it has worked for them, and if so how long it took to see results. I am also starting Minocycline today and staying on it for a 2-3 months. I am pretty impatient and do not love the idea of having to wait two more months to see any changes at all. Would love some imput from others who have gone through something similar and how they fixed it.
