Twitter is a cesspool of fallacies, rhetoric, and misinformation regarding veganism
This seems obvious to literally everybody, but I just cannot believe how… moronic that platform is. Ever since Billie Eilish made the claim about eating meat being inherently immoral, the flock of philosophically shallow, performative Twitter users came out in droves and it’s been a nauseating display of human cognitive biases and greed.
You’ll see a person making a basic analogy as simple as this: saying you love animals and then killing them for food is like Epstein saying he loves children and then rapes them.
It’s not saying they’re on equal levels. It’s saying that it’s a logical inconsistency within the concept of love and gratuitous harm or exploitation; however, Twitter users have the WORST fucking reading comprehension on the planet and then strawman veganism, make stupid ass, untruthful jabs about all vegans being nutritionally deficient, and then avoid the moral guilt that comes with animal suffering by shifting blame to only the systems.
I can’t fucking stand the engineered stupidity and ignorance of humanity. This is the basic reasoning most people have when it comes to not only veganism, but anything involving ethics. People are genuinely this philosophically shallow. The majority think in heuristics and not reasons. It’s time we accept that and aim to persuade people with an open mind - even if they disagree. It’ll at least be a fruitful endeavor. It’s time to accept that animals will keep dying by the majority of humans disregarding of their suffering. Majority of humans are egoists and will only make a moral decision if it can come with convenience and a stable social identity. It’s time we accept this. Does that mean all humans are like this? No. I don’t want to be a blanket cynic, but it’s clear to see.
