What is it like getting diagnosed in Australia ?

I’m fairly certain I have OCD. I think it’s mostly around health and relationships and it can get really debilitating. I’ve talked to friends who have OCD and they think our symptoms are really similar and I should go get help for it bc it’s at a point where I’m not doing well. I know that doesn’t equate a diagnosis but I’d rather know for sure and even if it’s not it’s probably smth else I can get help for.

I live in QLD Australia and I was wondering what the process is here. What are the costs like? I have Medicare and private health insurance but I’m not sure if that covers it. I can’t really afford a lot of appointments if I’m paying hundreds out of pocket but at the same time. Can anyone tell me who I’d need to see (like do I start with a GP appointment or do I go straight to a mental health place idk) and what to expect and costs?

Thanks
