First year questions
Looking to start a teaching career in D75 or some form of special ed in Queens for the 2027-28 school year. I plan to fully commit myself to the role but as a prospective first year teacher, I’m nervous about measuring up. I am a hard worker and eager to take constructive criticism to improve. Will I be ok?
Another question: is the students’ school day 6 hours and 20 minutes, or 6 hours and 50 minutes? Can teachers get in early to do prep work (say 1 hour before day starts) and leave at school dismissal time?
Also, I am a mom. Would it be ok for me to use a personal day to attend one of my own children’s school events, or is that a complete no no until I am tenured? I was thinking along the lines of 1 a year but if it’s frowned upon I would of course err on the side of not taking it.
