Background:
i play at the recreational level (1 star out of 3 stars difficulty) co-ed court. Self-officiated league.

I went for block coverage against an attack and was successful. But the other team called me on reaching past the net so they took the point.

Still learning the rules so please do correct me if I’m wrong:

Is it not legal to contact the ball (my block) while it is on the opponents side of the court, after the opponent swings and contacts the ball?

The timing was definitely close but I’m certain I allowed the opponent to hit the ball before my block touched the ball.
