I wanna be taller and better

So I'm a 15 year old kid that's around 173-174 cm ish and I'm from the Philippines, ever since I was a child I dreamt of getting taller and reaching new places that a few people here can't— to be specific I want to be a 6 footer; however, I think I won't be able to reach it due to my family genetics being not that tall. My father is 174cm (5'8) and my mom is 162.56 cm (5'4) it seems impossible for me but I am still hoping yk...

I love volleyball and I want to be better at it. People tend to say "just jump higher to compensate for the lack of height" I do jump tall but let's be real here, Height is always better and is the best advantage a player can have. This one fact is making me jealous of all the other players there who are taller than me and better than me and also it's making it hard for me to do offense due to being blocked even though I jump high..

Like whenever I see someone taller than me I can't help but think "why are they taller than me?" "I want to be like him/her" "Wait, no. I wanna be taller than him/her" I know it's a toxic mindset— it's also giving me alot of stress lately and I know that stress affects Human Growth Hormones.

What I'm saying is... I just wanna grow taller and I know I'm still young but I need guidance, advice, and tips on how to maximize my Height potential and possibly reach the height I've been wanting.

struggling with consistency + can’t really spike or jump serve yet, i need advice

I’ve been playing volleyball casually (mostly 1v1, no net, just bare floor). I don’t really have formal training yet.

My main issue is I’m super inconsistent. Some days I play decent, other days I’m just off.

I can:

set decently (not perfect placement, but controllable)

do the jumping spike motion without a ball (form feels okay)

But I can’t really:

spike properly after a set (timing + contact is off)

jump serve consistently

Also my receiving is pretty unstable, which messes up everything else.

I feel like my mechanics are there in practice, but in actual play everything breaks down.

Any tips on how to build consistency and actually transfer form into real gameplay?

PS. my receive isn’t accurate, I can only pass it up for a set, not above me(straight up)

My experience with volleyball

i have been playing volleyball for a month now , i play with adults ( 25+ age) in outdoor court in our society who have been playing for 3-4 years , i got into volleyball as spiking and serving looked cool to me , on my first day i was pretty excited and was able to get some recieve from back lines and even landed a serve , but nowdays its demotivating the smashes that those players hit ARE SO FAST like i cant even react to it and if i miss it then the players pretty much demotivate me that , ' only do practice of serve , cuz u cant even recieve ' . i tried doing topspin serve but i just cant do it , i am able to do a fairly good float serve , idk why i cant react to those fast balls , maybe its i am scared maybe i am not just made for volleyball or my reflexes aint good , i dont think i will be able to continue for long , can anyone suggest me what i can do to get my recieves good , most of the time the ball hits on my arm but on side so ball flies in wrong direction, pls if u have any tips help

Volleyball

Okay I’m rank A 26 and I was wondering if it was normal to get teammates in your team that literally don’t block at all😭 Like I’m trying to rank up fast and I got to this rank under 24 hours it’s kinda like a challenge but I’m running into having to carry other players. How does one even get to A rank without blocking ever…

Form check - outside hitter

Getting back into volleyball after a long hiatus. I’m 37 years old and 5’9”. Played lib all throughout HS and college so didn’t get a lot of opportunities to work on my hitting.

Any critique, big or small is welcome and appreciated. Just try to keep it kind :)

Tips? Help my little brother

I want to find willing coaches and camps for him as he is a junior. He is a very smart and hardworking kid especially when he’s obsessed. He’s been enthralled since he started so he actually goes to school and tries more in his classes. I would love to hear any advice I can give him or places I can send him to work on this passion he has.

Any tips to get better?

Right now, I'm playing JV for the 4th best Vball team in Michigan. I'm definitively the best on JV, but I still think there is soemthing to improve through all of this as I am not varsity. If there are any tips you can give, that would be awesome.

How to stop landing under the net

When I get set tight I always land under the net so when it happens in games I usually let the ball drop because I’m scared of getting injured. I also have a problem with landing on one leg when it’s tight, but I usually land on both if I’m 3-4 feet off.

Coaches and volleyball parents — do you analyze match stats in Excel/Sheets after exporting? What columns do you actually use?

I'm developing a volleyball match analysis app (yes, I'm the developer — also a volleyball parent who started tracking my kid's games obsessively).

I'm working on adding CSV export, and I want to make sure the data is actually useful — not just a dump of numbers nobody needs.

So I'm curious: do any of you export stats and dig into them in Excel or Google Sheets? If so, what are the columns or metrics you actually find valuable? What's missing from most tools?

Brutal honesty appreciated.

The controversial point that decided the 1st set in the Champions League final

Probably the turning point of the whole final. Perugia gained the momentum and demolished Zawiercie in the next two sets

Looking for volleyball games in Vancouver (May 29, June 2-6)

Hi, I’m planning a trip to Vancouver and looking for opportunities to play volleyball on May 29 and between June 2 and June 6.

I have about 8 years of experience playing volleyball in Korea. Since most amateur games in Korea are 9-man format, I’m still getting used to 6-on-6 rotations, but my fundamental skills are solid.

I’m staying in the Marpole/Oakridge area, but I’m willing to travel to Downtown or other accessible areas for a good game.

I’d appreciate any info on:

  1. Which websites or apps are most effective for booking drop-ins or finding pickup games?
  2. Are there any local or Urban Rec teams looking for a sub during those dates?

I'm open to indoor, grass, or beach volleyball. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or an open spot on your team. Thanks.

What national teams do you watch?

Just a fun question I had in mind. I like watching the matches of my country, but what other volleyball nations do you watch, maybe even support?

I'm German, so of course I watch their matches. Plus a few players like Brehme, Graven and Hosch are a few players I like a lot.

Japan I always like to watch, Brazil as well (basic answers, I know)

Poland of course. Whenever I see a match, I am impressed

The Netherlands are a fun team. Has a bit of a hidden gem-quality to me whenever I spot a Netherlands match

Finland pretty much because of one player I really adore, but last year performance made sure I wanna watch every match I can

So, what about you then?
