Is your 1st midgame crisis meant to be this hard a kick in the teeth
So get to just after 2400 - 1st a pirate fleet appears at 90ishk by entire fleet is 100k - have to bulk up a bit and get reamed a few times before scrapping it
I'd just integrated a vassal so borders were leaky
War in heaven started, 1st time side with the 'good' side who I have no real issues with their demands, most of the galaxy goes into a federation - and I'd be surrounded and wiped out

Pick neutral - join the fed, finish off the pirates
- 1st I have a leaky civ as the vassal would not secure choke points
- 2nd I have little fleet left
- 3rd - my old enemies all went and joined one side of the war so I'm still surrounded but
mostly by weaker civs
See I could probably deal with these, be a right pain
- 4th the 'bad' side has just magiked a 408k fleet from nowhere in my home capital - I'm guessing there's a really convenient wormhole or something as they were the other side of the galaxy

I join the alliance - bad guy magiks in 400k fleet walks all over me
I join the warring factions - alliance surrounds me and I'm still screwed
Hours learning bits and bobs, but games down the pan - game also doesn't teach you anything really about how to manage planets, economies, move people, heck I still don't know half of what's going on or how to optermise things.....I just know I need to learn more, and that I still can't get happiness right too much crime and my eco seems whack....clearly my fleets an issue if I'm expected to handle multiple 100k fleets at 2400, and from many angles
Game seems like it'll take several goes to 'learn' and it goes from nothing to exploding in one moment, that's really not fun for newer players
...now maybe I got screwed by the timing of the vassal and some messed up link that allowed massive fleets to pop up inside 1 year but it just seems unfun - I know the new patch is, well, new - but are there some decent guides that are current, a you tubber overexplainer which is current
