I recently started seeing someone who has become very important to me and they disclosed they were recently diagnosed with hsv2. He has since started talking the anti viral every day. I made it clear I'm willing to navigate this with him. I'm his first partner since the diagnosis and this is the first time I've been with someone who has it (knowingly), so very new to us both. Is there anything I should be doing to protect myself from contracting it? Is oral sex possible, and is unprotected sex ever going to be on the table?

I would appreciate any advice! Or if there's anything I should know that I wouldn't think to ask, outside of the basic research. As in, no sex if they feel an outbreak coming on and such. Thank you 😊
