The Final Update May be a Blessing in Disguise

I think one of the biggest things that really held Destiny 2 back was its constant need to have the Player engage with it. Something thats been compared to Warframe constantly. Warframe lets you come and go at your own leisure but it felt punishing taking time off from Destiny 2. Having to be ALWAYS up to date with the next current content drop.

I think having the game end will just over all make the game a more digestible experience. One thing I think that’d help this game is making content packs selectively downloadable. Idk how thatd work, idk IF it could. But having it be so people could revisit certain eras of Content will drive up engagement. Having events circulate encourage participation.

While it may be sad to end it on such a meh note Destiny 1 ALSO ended in a relatively “ok” note. But it tied it off with Triumphs. Giving the player stuff to Chase after the game is done.

I think its good we’re moving on and tbh I think a Destiny 3 has been needed since the Final Shape. Theres so much lore and plot threads you can spin into whatever they wanted. Having all these alien species on our side, and having light and darkness not inherently be polar opposites anymore makes for some engaging plot narratives that could change where the franchise goes from in the future.

Theres also the fact each game was a burning ship. Doomed to sink due to executive mismanagement, predatory consumer practices from publishers. I think there’s a solid opportunity for a 3rd game to really. REALLY make something solid with a vision. Ironically the thing that the first two games lacked was a clear idea where things were going.

And again, classic Warframe comparison. You don’t inherently need a roadmap with things on it. Just a really solid idea.

But more importantly than ANY of this.

…The Devs just need an actual break. I think this thing has to have been a Nightmare to uphold. What started with D1’s disastrous launch and first DLCs ended on an addiction High that people were dying for more.

And then D2 came and threw their stuff out, made a lackluster story that in Hindsight we view fondly. Had some low lows and High Highs. But did some creative things with it’s gameplay systems. But the Devs have dealt with Higher Up decisions and just screwed them over constantly. These games could’ve been fine art. A MMO shooter that really immersed you in it’s world and let you feel like a rogue warrior of Light against darkness. And just time and time again it felt as though my chain was yanked constantly.

But they busted ass and genuinely delivered some fantastic story from time to time. If you’re on the Dev team reading this. Thank you. If you are not on the Dev team anymore, of either game, still Thank you. A 14 year old me was made very happy by you and now im literally 28 I genuinely feel like going back for the first time in 4 years.
